Objectives

The project “The Power of Together: Building Stronger Groups Outdoors and Indoors” was created to improve the quality of youth work by equipping youth workers, educators, and facilitators with practical tools and strategies to foster healthier group relationships. Through experiential learning, outdoor activities, and non-formal education methods, the project explores how group dynamics impact inclusion, cooperation, and leadership development among young people. The project aims to empower youth workers with deeper knowledge and hands-on experience in managing group processes, helping them: - Recognize and address unhealthy group behaviours, such as exclusion, dominance, and low participation. - Strengthen facilitation skills to create more inclusive and engaging learning environments. - Use outdoor and non-formal learning approaches to support teamwork, leadership, and social connection. - Provide young people with meaningful group-building experiences that boost self-confidence and cooperation. - Encourage cross-sectoral exchange among youth organisations, allowing for the sharing of best practices and new ideas. The more concrete AIM of the project (as written in the application) is: “To contribute to the innovation and improvement of youth work in our communities by exploring and introducing approaches to enhance group dynamics and foster healthy relationships among young people.” The project objectives (O1–O7) are exactly as stated in the application: O1: To increase awareness about the concepts of group dynamics and healthy relationships and how these are related to young people’s personal and social well-being and empowerment. O2: To enable participants to critically reflect on their typical patterns of thinking and behaviour within/with groups, recognise how these patterns influence their work with young people, and create personal learning plans to enhance their skills and competencies for better support of youth. O3: To share experiences from our seven countries on h unhealthy group dynamics manifest in various ways throughout society, negatively impacting individuals, communities, and broader societal dynamics (exclusion, conflicts, rise of populism, etc.), including examples from youth work contexts. O4: To provide tools and strategies for fostering healthier group dynamics and relationships (try them out and gather them in PADLET storage). O5: To develop skills to plan and facilitate non-formal learning activities that contribute to improving group dynamics and relationships—both in laboratory settings and through educational sessions in each country/community. O6: To come up with and implement at least three concrete ongoing ideas/strategies for enhancing group dynamics and relationships within each organisation. O7: To network with peers and develop 5–6 Erasmus+/ESC project ideas with elements of fostering healthy group dynamics and relationships among young people. These aims and objectives guided the project’s long-term learning process, consisting of preparation, two mobilities, and local implementation.
