Objectives

With Rhythm is the Answer, we wanted to create an international youth exchange where music, dance, rhythm and movement were used as tools for connection, inclusion, self-expression and intercultural learning. The project was born from the belief that rhythm is a universal language: it allows young people to express emotions, stories and identities beyond words, and it can help overcome barriers of language, culture, background, religion, gender or social position. Our main objective was to bring young people from different countries and realities together in a safe, creative and non-formal learning environment where they could experience unity through artistic collaboration. In a time when many young people are affected by social division, polarisation, war, discrimination, loneliness and mental pressure, we wanted to offer them a space where they could feel seen, heard, valued and connected. Through dance, music, storytelling, rituals, peer-to-peer workshops and reflection circles, participants explored how creativity can become a tool for dialogue, resilience and social change. The project also aimed to strengthen participants’ personal, social and artistic competences. We wanted young people to build confidence, develop communication and teamwork skills, improve their intercultural awareness, learn from each other’s cultural traditions, and discover how movement and rhythm can be used to express emotions and personal stories. A central objective was that participants would not only take part in workshops, but also become co-creators of the project by sharing their own dances, rhythms, ideas, cultural elements and creative approaches. Although the original application planned the activity in Athens, the project was implemented in Ornos, Agios Lazaros, 84600 Mykonos, Greece, divided across five villas. This change was made because Mykonos and the surrounding Cycladic setting offered a stronger symbolic connection to the project theme, especially through the mythological association with Apollo, music, light and artistic inspiration. It also provided a better practical and financial arrangement than the originally planned venue in Athens, while keeping the same educational aims, methodology and project quality. The APV took place from 20.10.2025 to 23.10.2025 and allowed the partner organisations to finalise the pedagogical approach, practical arrangements, roles, programme structure and immersive storyline. The mobility then took place from 27.04.2026 to 08.05.2026 at the same location in Mykonos. During the exchange, the objectives were translated into a full immersive programme built around the elements, including activities such as the Arrival Ritual, entering tribes, lessons and trials connected to Water, Fire, Earth and Air, intercultural evenings, creative filming, reflection moments, group leader meetings, and a final evaluation and closing process. In short, the project aimed to help young people find their own rhythm, connect it with the rhythm of others, and experience how diversity can become harmony. We wanted participants to leave the project with stronger confidence, deeper intercultural understanding, new artistic tools, lasting international friendships, and the motivation to use music, dance and creativity in their own communities as instruments for inclusion, dialogue and positive change.
