From October 7 to 16, 2025, the serene setting of Assel in Hoog Soeren, Netherlands, will host "Taste of Culture 2.0," a dynamic youth exchange program. This initiative brings together young individuals, including those with diverse disabilities, from Croatia, Italy, Latvia, and the Netherlands. Participants will engage on a culinary journey, using cooking as a medium to explore and celebrate cultural differences. Through interactive workshops, inter-cultural activities, collaborative cooking sessions, and shared meals, attendees will delve into each other's traditions, fostering mutual respect and understanding. The program aims to create an inclusive environment where every participant's unique background is valued, promoting dignity and reducing stigma associated with disabilities. By the end of this enriching experience, participants will have not only honed their culinary skills in an ecologically friendly way but also built lasting friendships and a deeper appreciation for diversity. The primary objective of our youth exchange project is to explore and appreciate diverse cultures, habits, and tastes through the interactive and engaging activity of cooking. By bringing together participants from various backgrounds, we aim to foster mutual understanding and learning in a mixed group setting. A significant focus of this exchange is to create an inclusive environment by balancing the participation of young people with disabilities and those without. This approach seeks to provide a memorable life experience for all participants, promoting respect, dignity, and inclusivity, while reducing the stigma associated with disabilities. Food serves as a universal connector, and in today's health-conscious society, it plays a pivotal role in cultural traditions and personal interactions. Through the shared experience of cooking and tasting, participants will gain insights into different cultural explanations and develop an appreciation for diverse tastes. This creative method aims to enhance intercultural understanding and learning in a fun and engaging way in our local community.
