Objectives

By implementing this project we aimed to empower youth workers with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to promote non-violent activism, democratic values and youth engagement in their local communities. In the current socio-political climate, where many participating countries face challenges such as political instability, threats to democracy and growing radicalism, it is critical to equip youth workers with practical methods and creative strategies to inspire and engage young people. The project seeked to deepen participants’ understanding of nonviolent action, human rights advocacy and the principles of active citizenship. This enables them to address challenges constructively and promote peaceful solutions within their societies. Our primary objectives were to provide youth workers with tools to critically analyze political situations, identify effective and context-specific strategies for non-violent action. Through methods such as the non-violent actions, role-playing, theater skills and media literacy workshops, we aimed to create critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the influence of mass media and soft power. Participants learned how to counteract disinformation, promote inclusive dialogue and address polarization in their communities. The project also focused on enhancing participants' competencies in designing creative and impactful initiatives, including workshops, campaigns and visual tools such as posters and video campaigns, which they can implement in their local contexts to engage youth in peaceful, democratic activism. Another key objective was to establish a solidarity network among youth workers from diverse countries, facilitating the exchange of best practices and encouraging cross-border collaboration. By bringing together youth workers from Georgia, the Netherlands, Serbia, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine, the project aimed to create a platform for mutual learning and shared experiences, strengthening their capacity to advocate for democratic resilience and human rights. Our project places a strong emphasis on establishing participants' role as multipliers. Upon completing the training, participants were encouraged to disseminate the knowledge and skills gained through follow-up activities, such as local workshops, seminars and community projects. They are equipped to mentor young people in their communities, guiding them toward active participation in civic life and inspiring them to become agents of change. In addition to individual capacity-building, the project aimed to create a lasting impact on the communities represented by the participants. By empowering youth workers to lead initiatives that address societal challenges, we aspired to create a culture of non-violence, inclusion, and active citizenship among young people. This contributes to strengthening democratic resilience, human rights advocacy and gender equality in the participating countries. Ultimately, the project seeked to inspire a generation of youth workers and young leaders who are equipped to address current challenges through creative, inclusive and peaceful means, ensuring the sustainability of the project’s impact across diverse communities.
