By implementing this project, we aim to empower young participants with essential wilderness survival skills while fostering their personal growth, environmental responsibility, and intercultural understanding. Through engaging, non-formal education activities, the project seeks to create meaningful learning experiences that encourage active participation, teamwork, and the development of practical and transferable competences. The objectives of the project, from the perspective of youth work practice, include: 1) Enhancing personal and practical skills: The project focuses on equipping participants with wilderness survival skills, such as shelter-building, navigation, first aid, and resource management. These activities emphasize critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability—competences that are invaluable both in outdoor settings and in broader life contexts. 2) Fostering environmental awareness and responsibility: Participants will explore the interdependence between humans and nature, learning sustainable practices such as foraging responsibly, Leave No Trace principles, and eco-friendly resource use. These activities promote a sense of environmental stewardship and encourage participants to adopt and advocate for sustainable lifestyles. 3) Encouraging intercultural exchange and inclusion: By bringing together participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, the project fosters mutual understanding and appreciation. Activities like international nights and group challenges provide opportunities for intercultural learning, enhancing participants’ ability to communicate, collaborate, and value diversity. 4) Developing leadership and teamwork skills: Through activities like team survival challenges, leadership workshops, and group eco-project planning, participants practice effective communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution. These experiences empower young people to take on leadership roles in their communities and beyond. 5) Promoting active participation in youth work and local communities: The project engages participants as active contributors throughout all stages—planning, implementation, and follow-up. This approach strengthens their sense of agency and inspires them to apply their skills and knowledge to address challenges in their local communities, particularly in environmental and social contexts. 6) Strengthening youth work practice: The project serves as a model for using nature-based and experiential learning methodologies in youth work. It enhances the capacity of participating organizations to deliver engaging, impactful programs that combine personal development with environmental education. By achieving these objectives, the project not only benefits the participants directly but also contributes to broader goals of youth empowerment, sustainable development, and intercultural understanding, creating ripple effects in their local communities and beyond.
