In the face of the current socio-political situation, with the rise of anti-democratic- and extreme rights wing values, and after seeing that youth and young adults express that they experience loneliness and a need for networks and connections to other people, youth exchanges with a focus on democratic values and citizenship, human rights, dialogue and collaboration is more important than ever. Young people from both organisations’ localities have expressed the wish and need to engage with young people from abroad, as well as gain knowledge and insights into different realities. The young participants of this project will gain new knowledge and competencies about democratic values, active citizenship, human rights and social collaboration and try them out during the project. The participants will experience cultural exchange and gain an impression of the reality of other young people's lives to foster understanding, and empathy and to fight the feeling of loneliness and disconnection. This will be done through non-formal education and physical activities in nature and urban environments.
