The main objective of Empower Youth: Building Skills for Creative Community Impact was to strengthen young people’s ability to take active roles in their local communities through creative, cultural, and civic engagement. The project aimed to equip participants with practical skills, confidence, and experience that could be transferred to youth-led initiatives after the exchange. Specifically, the project sought to: support the development of practical competences in project planning, cooperation, and implementation, using real-life cultural contexts; create a safe and inclusive learning environment where young people could explore identity, participation, and creative expression across national and cultural backgrounds; strengthen intercultural dialogue and solidarity, particularly between youth from Norway, Denmark, and Ukraine; provide participants from conflict-affected areas with a temporary space for recovery, reflection, and peer support, alongside skills development; build stronger and more sustainable partnerships between the participating organisations, grounded in shared youth work values and mutual learning. An important underlying objective was to focus on participants’ strengths and lived experiences, and to balance structured learning with informal social interaction. Through this approach, the project aimed to foster motivation, long-term engagement, and a sense of ownership among participants, rather than short-term outcomes alone.
