The theme of the project was “Fostering bonfires: Igniting the warmth of Community”. Through this theme, we aimed to explore the value and role of space and community in modern society, from the local to the pan-european level. We aimed to explore modern social topics such as atomisation and social isolation, political polarisation, digital and physical spaces, mobility, and civic cooperation. This theme served as the backbone of our project, and activities aimed to relate to this in a variety of ways. In addition to this, one of EYP’s social mandates is to educate youth on the EU and its institutions. Although Norway is not a member of the EU, we are heavily interconnected through the EEA. Because of this, an understanding of the EU is highly impactful to young Norwegians' understanding of the domestic and international political landscape. We sought to educate youth on international relations and the dynamics of international cooperation. The project also sought to provide youth with a space to develop their opinions, ideas, and perspectives. During Voss 2025 we aimed to encourage participants to explore new ideas and train on soft skills such as cooperation, communication and creative problem solving. The project provides youth with an alternative education programme which meaningfully differentiates from the classroom model. In addition, we sought to provide youth with an arena for civic education, where they had the opportunity to discuss a broad range of topics with people from a variety of different backgrounds.
