AMPLIFY aimed to strengthen youth participation in cultural life by giving young people meaningful influence over the planning, development and implementation of music and cultural activities. The project was based on YMCA-YWCA Norway’s principle of “young responsibility, adult presence” and sought to develop this further into an AMPLIFY approach to youth-led and youth-participatory cultural work. The main objectives were to strengthen young people in leadership and mentoring roles, create accessible and inclusive music activities, and support collaboration between young people from different local communities. The project also aimed to build wider networks for exchanging experience and practice, including with youth organisations in Europe, and to develop transferable methods and digital resources for youth-led music and cultural projects. A further objective was to increase access to cultural participation for young people facing social, economic, health-related or other barriers. Through practical responsibility, creative collaboration and non-formal learning, the project sought to give young people experience in leadership, project development, communication, cooperation and inclusive community-building. At organisational level, the project aimed to strengthen YMCA-YWCA Norway’s capacity to support youth-led music and cultural initiatives in a more systematic and sustainable way.
