The project was a continuation of a youth exchange that took place in 2024 with the same partner organizations in Kassel, Germany. That exchange also focused on the body and influencers who influence young people regarding their appearance. The goal of the current project was to develop, systematize, and share the knowledge gained through the project. The project aimed to raise awareness among young people that there is no ideal beauty and that our bodies don't define us. Working on a performance in mixed-ethnic teams about body perception and acceptance allowed the youth to see themselves in a different, fresh way. Participants included people of different skin colors, some overweight, with long and short hair, tall and short. This diversity of bodies was the starting point for creating the performance, in the form of a shadow play. The project aimed to address the question that plagues young people regarding the need for self-optimization (societal expectations, fashion, economic opportunities, etc.) and to support young people in critically questioning the meaning and purpose of body styling and body tuning. Furthermore, the project aimed to encourage young people to accept their own bodies and appearance, as well as those of others, and not to exclude or discriminate against those who deviate from the prevailing trends in body shape and the "ideal" appearance. Project activities also aimed to encourage young people to reflect on their lifestyles, eating habits, and how they manage their bodies and appearance. Additional project goals - Raising awareness of diversity among young people - Understanding and understanding the circumstances of others (and the resulting opportunities and obstacles). - Promoting understanding of other perspectives - Reflecting on "identity" and "cultural differences" depending on social affiliation - Supporting a shift in perspective
