Objectives

First and foremost, participating in the project became a “catapult” for us, the project participants — one that carried us from a world of local-mindedness to a sense of truly co-creating the EU, drawing abundantly from its benefits, and “setting sail on the wide European waters.” Organizing an international project enabled our organizations to expand their international network of contacts, gain new partners, earn trust and prestige at the local, national, and—most importantly—international levels, and to strengthen both the mindset and substantive capacity of their members (and therefore of the organizations themselves). Through this project, we managed to transform from “grey mice” into conscious, motivated, confident Europeans equipped with the tools to co-create the economic, political, and social space of the EU. We underwent not only a mental transformation but also discovered a shared European identity, developed our European awareness, and acquired knowledge that gave us a sense of agency in educational, economic, political, and social matters. We learned to use modern information and communication tools and developed digital competencies. During the youth exchange, we explored topics such as EU citizenship, European identity/awareness, and democracy. By gaining knowledge about European political, economic, legal, and social mechanisms, we experienced personal growth that now enables us to carry out activities at the European level for our NGOs, local communities, and countries, as well as to fully participate in the benefits that EU membership offers. While implementing this project, we also experienced growth in our knowledge and skills in using modern information and communication technologies and in developing digital competencies. We gained knowledge about EU citizenship, European identity/awareness, and democracy, combined with improved skills in using modern ICT tools, and we acquired digital competences. All of this already has a highly positive impact on our own development, that of our peers, our NGOs, and the EU as a whole. Participation in the project: enabled us to discover/expand our European identity/awareness and gain knowledge about EU citizenship and democracy, thanks to which we fully understood the mechanisms within which they operate and can use them for the benefit of ourselves, our organizations, our local communities, our countries, and the EU; enabled us to acquire the skills to use information and communication technologies for achieving project, educational, economic, political, and social goals; enabled us to create a virtual space for young people from our countries (and other EU countries) — through the development of the “Being European Sounds Proud” platform — which gave us the opportunity to communicate, collaborate, educate, motivate, and inspire one another, all in order to become conscious and proud Europeans.
