Objectives

The implementation of the project “I'm free - I DON'T TAKE!” is aimed at counteracting addiction among young people, which is a response to the growing problems of substance abuse among young people. From the perspective of the practice of working with young people, there are several key reasons why this project is not only necessary, but even essential. During an earlier project titled “Your Health - Your Future,” youth noted that the topic of health was important to young people, but they lacked the time to discuss substance abuse prevention in more depth. As a result of the project activities and observations of the environment, the youth decided that they needed to continue the topic of health, focusing on addiction prevention and building awareness among youth. She wants to learn through the project how to avoid addictions, how to express emotions, deal with stress and make informed decisions about a healthy lifestyle. She believes that skills such as assertiveness and the ability to say no in difficult situations are crucial to protect against reaching for addictive substances. We want to do this project because: 1. we identified the needs of the youth: As a result of previous project activities, youth perceived a huge lack of knowledge about addiction and its consequences. Surveys indicate that many young people are unaware of the dangers, which underscores the need for education in this area. 2 There has been an increase in addiction problems: Statistics from the “Report 2023 - ADDICTIONS IN POLAND” indicate an alarming level of alcohol and drug use among teenagers. The project aims to raise awareness of these risks and promote healthy lifestyles. 3. adolescents have shown interest and involvement : Adolescents want to take an active role in solving problems that affect them. Their willingness to take action and cooperate with their Lithuanian peers shows that they are motivated to learn and exchange experiences. 4 The project participants want to create a space to express emotions: The project also aims to develop the skills of assertiveness and expression of one's own emotions, which is crucial in dealing with peer pressure and stressful situations. 5 Young people need to work together and integrate: Joint activities with Lithuanian peers foster integration and cultural exchange, which enriches participants' experiences and knowledge. Objectives of the project 1 - Education on addictions: Participants will gain knowledge about modern addictions, their effects and prevention methods, which will help them better understand these issues. 2. Promoting a healthy lifestyle: The project aims to show alternative forms of spending time that are free from stimulants, and to develop passions and interests that can replace destructive behavior. 3. development of assertive skills: Participants will learn how to say no to suggestions to use stimulants and how to deal with difficult situations, which will boost their self-confidence. 4. Creating a theater and dance show: Through art, young people have a chance to creatively express their thoughts and emotions related to the problem of addiction, which can have a great impact on their peers. 5. competence increase: The project will contribute to the development of participants' linguistic, mathematical and IT competencies, which is important for their further educational and professional development. 6. Comparison of cultures and stereotypes: Young people will have the opportunity to analyze the differences and similarities between Poland and Lithuania, which will contribute to the fight against harmful stereotypes. Implementation of the project “I AM FREE - I DON'T TAKE!” is therefore a response to the real needs of young people and a challenge that will allow them not only to gain knowledge, but also the skills necessary to live in a healthy and conscious society.
