The "Hire ME!" project is an initiative aimed at young people from countries participating in the Erasmus+ program, with the goal of supporting them in effectively entering the job market. The idea for the project emerged during the implementation of another initiative, where participants noticed a common problem related to the recruitment process. Young people often do not know how to prepare a professional CV, how to behave during a job interview, or how to negotiate employment terms. These challenges inspired the creation of a project designed to equip young people with the necessary skills to confidently and effectively embark on their career paths. The main theme of the project is comprehensive preparation for the recruitment process. We aim to show how important it is to approach each stage of job searching thoughtfully and consciously – from preparing application documents, through the job interview, to final negotiations of employment terms. While preparing the project proposal, we thoroughly analyzed the scale of the problem. It turned out that many people – not just young ones – do not know how to create an effective CV, how to answer recruiters' questions, or how to negotiate job conditions. This often leads to frustration, dissatisfaction, and even wage inequality. For example, studies show that women in partner countries often earn less than men in similar positions. One of the reasons is that women, fearing rejection, lower their financial expectations, while men are more likely to negotiate and demand higher salaries. This highlights the importance of effective self-presentation and negotiation skills – skills that can be learned but are often overlooked in formal education. The problem begins at the stage of preparing a CV. In schools, this topic is rarely, if ever, addressed. Young people searching for their first job often have to look for information online, which does not always lead to good results. Ready-made CV templates, while convenient, make the application documents of many candidates look identical, making it difficult to stand out from the crowd. However, the biggest challenges arise during job interviews. In our survey conducted among friends and peers, we found that most people do not prepare for job interviews. When asked whether before meeting with a recruiter they: research the company, re-read the job offer, practice answers to potential questions, on average, 7 out of 10 respondents said they do not do this. This is a huge mistake, as these elements often determine success in recruitment. Additionally, most respondents admitted that they do not ask recruiters any questions, which is another oversight, as candidate questions demonstrate their interest and engagement. The "Hire ME!" project addresses these issues, especially in an international context. More and more companies operate on a global scale, and recruitment processes are often conducted by people from other countries. Cultural differences can affect communication and expectations. For example, a Polish person having an interview with a Dutch recruiter may not be prepared for differences in recruitment styles. This is why countries with diverse cultural contexts, such as Azerbaijan, are participating in the project, to show how important it is to understand intercultural nuances in the recruitment process. The direct goal of the project is to raise awareness about the importance of proper preparation for entering the job market. We want to equip participants with skills that will allow them to confidently go through the recruitment process and effectively start their professional careers. After completing the project, participants will know: how to create a professional CV and cover letter tailored to a specific job offer, how to prepare for a job interview, including how to answer questions and what questions to ask recruiters, how to negotiate job conditions, including salary, to reach a satisfactory agreement. Additionally, participants will: develop communication skills, both in direct and indirect contacts (e.g., via email), learn behaviors desired by employers, such as professionalism, assertiveness, and teamwork, understand the importance of consciously managing their careers from the very beginning. The "Hire ME!" project is not only an opportunity to gain practical skills but also a chance for personal development. Each of the acquired competencies will positively impact various areas of the participants' lives, helping them not only in finding a job but also in building confidence and effectiveness in everyday professional and personal situations. Through this, the project has a real impact on the future of young people, preparing them for the challenges of the modern job market.
