„Sport shapes us, and we shape the world!” is a project that combines sports with actions aimed at positive changes in society. Its main goal is to use physical activity as a tool for social integration, developing interpersonal skills, and raising awareness of important social issues among young people. In today's world, many communities struggle with a lack of integration, leading to cultural and social divisions. As an NGO, we aim to support youth in their personal and social development through physical activity and social integration. The project promotes integration among young people from different countries, enabling them to better understand diverse cultures and values. Young people often face challenges in forming relationships and collaborating within groups. Through sports and joint activities, participants develop not only interpersonal skills but also communication, trust, and teamwork abilities. Engaging youth in such activities fosters the development of social competencies essential for building a society based on cooperation and mutual respect. Among youth, the issue of insufficient physical activity is becoming more evident in the age of digitalization and sedentary lifestyles. We recognize the need to engage young people in healthy forms of activity, which not only improve physical health but also mental well-being. We want to inspire youth to lead active lives and promote values of healthy competition and cooperation. Promoting physical activity is crucial for youth health, which is why the project uses sport as a tool to support a healthy lifestyle. According to the 2020 report by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), regular physical activity reduces the risk of depression and anxiety. Data shows that physically active individuals report better mental well-being and greater resilience to stress. Additionally, a 2019 European Union report indicates that participating in team sports contributes to the development of interpersonal skills such as cooperation and communication. Youth who regularly engage in sports tend to perform better academically and have better relationships with peers. As an organization committed to local community engagement, we believe that sport has the power to unite people. Our goal is to create a space where youth, regardless of their social or cultural background, can meet, collaborate, and build positive relationships. The project's objective is to create bonds between participants from different countries, fostering mutual understanding and tolerance. Moreover, we increasingly notice that youth need support in gaining a deeper understanding of certain social and cultural contexts. Participants will have the opportunity to develop social skills, such as critical thinking and argumentation, by using sports as an educational tool. The project also involves youth in creating social campaigns aimed at raising awareness of important issues, such as gender equality, integration of people with disabilities, national/ethnic minorities, and environmental protection. As part of the project activities, participants will support local communities by organizing sports workshops for local youth, children, and adults. A 2021 report by the European Food Safety Authority emphasizes that sports play a key role in social integration, particularly among immigrants and ethnic minorities. Studies have shown that participation in sports activities improves interpersonal relationships and supports the adaptation process to new living conditions. Another reason for undertaking this project is the desire to combat the marginalization of youth from disadvantaged environments. Research indicates that sports can be an effective tool for social inclusion. Participants will gain knowledge about equality, social integration, and youth activation through various workshops. By organizing sports events and social campaigns, young people will be able to actively influence their surroundings and promote values such as solidarity, empathy, and cooperation, increasing their civic engagement and social responsibility. The project also supports intergenerational dialogue and integration, which is especially important in today’s society, where generational differences can weaken interpersonal bonds. Through joint sports activities, youth will have the opportunity to interact not only with their peers but also with representatives of older generations. Intergenerational collaboration allows for the exchange of experiences and mutual understanding, contributing to building a society based on solidarity and mutual support. In conclusion, this project aims to create a space for youth to learn, integrate, and reflect, addressing key social challenges that require engagement and cooperation. The project is a prime example of how sport can become a tool for positive social change, contributing to creating a better future for all people.
