Objectives

Our project addressed the needs of young people related to artistic education, English language learning, and the development of soft skills and international cooperation. The primary goal of the project was to increase the presence of art in the educational process and demonstrate the diverse ways it can support young people's personal development. When we identified the problem with our partners from Slovakia, we concluded that today's schools lacked space for creative artistic activities, which were once available through special interest groups. Gifted children often have to seek opportunities to develop their talents in private classes outside of school, which requires additional financial resources from parents and additional time for children to prepare and travel. Including art more effectively in school activities would significantly enhance the educational process. Our goal was to influence a shift in the perception of art in education and develop proposals for appropriate tools. This is precisely what we sought to achieve throughout our work. The project also addressed the need for active English language learning. We noticed that young people were largely familiar with the language because they were exposed to it online – they watched foreign-language content on TikTok, YouTube, and other platforms almost daily – but they lacked opportunities to use English in practical conversation. Participating in the project allowed participants to overcome language barriers by working in an international team and engaging in daily face-to-face communication in English, which positively impacted their linguistic and interpersonal skills and opened up new opportunities for the future. The project also provided an opportunity to highlight the talents of young people – particularly those related to art, as the students are actively passionate about photography, music, and dance. The diverse social fabric and cultural diversity present among both groups was also a significant asset during the project, which we were able to draw on during the project activities and ensured a diverse perspective on art. An additional goal of our project was the development of teaching staff. Educators, eager to meet the expectations of young people, are open to acquiring new educational tools, especially in the area of non-formal education. The project provided an opportunity for comprehensive and lasting development for young people and teachers. Participants gained new skills, self-confidence, and inspiration for further action, and non-formal education made learning a rewarding adventure, not a chore.
