Ready to Help is a project created in response to the urgent need to increase young people’s knowledge and skills in providing first aid in emergency situations and for chronic illnesses. From our experience working with youth, we observe that the lack of knowledge and fear of making mistakes often prevent young people from taking action in crisis situations. The project aims to overcome these barriers through practical education, the development of social skills, and building confidence among young people. Our work with youth has shown that young people have the potential to become leaders of change in their communities, provided they are equipped with the right tools and skills. Many of them have already witnessed crisis situations, such as fainting, epileptic seizures, or asthma attacks, but lacked the knowledge and confidence to react effectively. Therefore, the main objective of the project is to increase the level of knowledge and practical first aid skills of 30 participants by at least 85%. We believe that achieving this goal will significantly enhance young people's sense of security and readiness to act. During the project, participants will take part in various activities such as workshops, crisis situation simulations, and field games. These non-formal education methods will allow them to gain knowledge on recognizing the symptoms of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, asthma, or epilepsy, and responding to emergency situations like fainting, heat stroke, or respiratory failure. During practical sessions, participants will learn key life-saving skills, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). These activities are expected to increase participants' confidence in crisis situations by 80% and improve their stress resilience by 85%. One of the key outcomes of the project will be the creation of educational materials, such as flashcards and instructional videos. The educational flashcards, containing step-by-step guidance on handling various emergency situations, will be available in both printed and digital formats, with a projected reach of at least 1,000 recipients within the first six months after the project's completion. The instructional videos, published on a specially created YouTube channel, will serve as a practical, step-by-step guide, enabling viewers to practice alongside an instructor. We anticipate that the channel will reach at least 5,000 views within the first year, highlighting its educational value and ensuring the sustainability of the project’s impact. Additionally, our goal is to develop participants' social skills, such as communication, collaboration, empathy, and social responsibility. Through workshops, simulations, and group activities, participants will enhance their teamwork skills by 75% and develop their ability to respond with empathy and sensitivity by 80%. We aim for young people not only to acquire technical knowledge and practical skills but also to understand the importance of helping others and actively contributing to their communities. From our experience working with young people, we recognize the importance of providing them with opportunities to share their newly acquired skills and promote first aid knowledge within their local communities. Therefore, we plan for each national group to organize at least one educational workshop upon returning to their home country, with an estimated reach of 120 participants. These activities will further spread the project’s results and maximize its impact. The "Ready to Help" project directly addresses the specific needs of young people and the communities we work with. It will not only equip participants with practical life-saving skills but will also motivate them to take action within their communities, promote social responsibility, and help build a more aware and prepared society. Thanks to the active involvement of participants and the long-term impact of the project's outcomes, "Ready to Help" will extend far beyond the project's implementation period, leaving a lasting and meaningful contribution to society.
