Objectives

The “Commission for the Future” project was created in response to the low level of youth engagement in democratic life, the lack of awareness of how the European Union works, and the growing influence of disinformation. In the countries covered by the project – Poland, Spain, Greece, North Macedonia, and Turkey – young people are struggling with high unemployment, limited career prospects, and economic emigration, which leads to a drain of talent and the weakening of local communities. The project aims to educate young people about civics through practical experience of decision-making processes, the development of analytical and negotiation skills, and strengthening their sense of belonging to the European community. Thanks to simulations of the European Commission proceedings, Oxford debates, and educational workshops, participants will gain knowledge about the functioning of the EU, learn to critically analyze information, and develop communication and leadership skills. The key result of the project will be the “Youth Declaration,” containing postulates regarding the future of Europe, which will be forwarded to political decision-makers and EU institutions. The project activities will also include local dissemination events, an information campaign in social media and the publication of educational materials that will enable further use of the project results by other youth organizations and educational institutions. The “Future Commission” project will increase the civic and political awareness of young people, preparing them for active participation in social and political life. Thanks to the use of modern methods of non-formal education, participants will not only gain knowledge, but also learn how to effectively work for the community, take civic initiatives and engage in youth policy. Through the broad promotion of the results and their implementation in further educational work, the project will have a lasting impact on the development of democratic competences of young people in Europe.
