Objectives

Project Green Horizons aims to provide youth workers with the ability to deliver sustainable outdoor education programmes that include inclusiveness, personal development, and awareness of environmental issues. Through the merger of outdoor experiential learning and social inclusion methods, this project will directly answer the priorities set by the 2025 Erasmus+ program for European youth work practices. The project aims to enable youth workers to work with and through the landscape for inclusion and environmental sustainability. Its work is to innovate youth work and support marginalized young people in learning life skills through environmental stewardship. Objectives of the project The project will focus on developing youth work in outdoor education and experiential learning to increase young people's engagement in personal development. The project seeks to utilize nature as a learning environment that promotes resilience, self-confidence, and teamwork by providing training in outdoor education techniques, such as experiential learning and adventure-based activities. The more youth workers consider using these strategies in their practice, the better they can support young people's personal and social development. One of the core goals of the Erasmus+ program is to support youth workers in their efforts to promote social inclusion through inclusive outdoor programs. The project aims to address the broad range of issues that young people with barriers, such as those arising from a disability or social exclusion, may face by developing activities tailored to different requirements and expectations to bring together participants of diverse backgrounds and nationalities and encourage mutual understanding, empathy and cooperation. Equipping youth workers with inclusive outdoor education techniques will make activities adaptable to serve the needs of all participants; thus, every young person can partake, no matter their position in the social hierarchy. The final goal is to foster a kind environment that enhances social inclusion and empowerment for young people across all societal categories. This project aims to straighten environmental awareness and sustainability among youth workers, empowering them to educate young people on the importance of protecting the environment. This initiative aligns with the Erasmus+ program priorities for 2024, aiming to foster a sense of responsibility for the natural world. Key activities include training youth workers in environmental education strategies, such as "Leave No Trace" principles and incorporating sustainability, conservation, and climate change workshops into outdoor education activities. Practical sessions like hikes and outdoor sustainability challenges will help apply these skills in youth work. Youth workers will develop leadership and facilitation skills to manage group dynamics and run inclusive, sustainable outdoor programs. Facilitating efficiently is essential in getting young people involved and making the activities meaningful. Our project is designed to enhance the competencies of youth workers in guiding their young participants into diverse outdoor experiences so they can establish a greater sense of community and inclusion. Some activities include workshops, outdoor and experiential learning, leadership training, group facilitation, conflict resolution & safety risk management. The project encourages cross-cultural exchange and European cooperation in youth work by bringing together youth workers from different countries to share best practices, ideas, and experiences in outdoor education and inclusion. The project will create a platform for exchanging innovative ideas, fostering stronger partnerships, and enhancing European youth work. Key activities will include peer learning, group discussions, team building, and collaborative project development to promote European identity and cooperation among youth workers. The goal is to create sustainable and replicable outdoor education models for youth work. The objective is to develop adaptable resources that can be used by youth organizations across Europe for long-term impact. The project will focus on sharing templates, session plans, and resources for outdoor education programs. These materials will be shared through dissemination events, online platforms, and collaborative networks to empower youth organizations to implement outdoor education programs. Within our project, we would like to diversify youth work practices in Europe by providing youth workers with new skills in outdoor education for inclusion, environmental education, sustainable development, and personal development This will foster cooperation between cultures and the exchange of different knowledge bases and experiences.
