Objectives

The project aims to equip youth workers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to ecological crises, particularly floods, and integrate disaster relief strategies into youth work. By implementing this initiative, the project seeks to strengthen the capacity of youth organisations, enabling them to mobilise young people in disaster preparedness, emergency response, and long-term recovery efforts. The objectives include improving youth workers' competencies in crisis management, fostering cross-border cooperation in disaster relief, and promoting environmental sustainability within youth work practices. To achieve these objectives, the project will implement three key activities: a study visit in Spain, a study visit in Poland, and a training course in Germany. These activities will involve a total of 60 youth workers, all of whom come from marginalised backgrounds and face barriers to participation. The participants will engage in hands-on training, field visits, expert discussions, and interactive workshops designed to develop their disaster response skills and enhance their ability to engage young people in climate resilience efforts. The expected results include an increase in the professional competencies of youth workers, the development of a network of organisations actively engaged in disaster preparedness, and the creation of open-access resources such as a best practices report and a training toolkit. The project will have a lasting impact on youth workers and their organisations by enabling them to implement structured disaster relief strategies, improve collaboration with emergency response agencies, and integrate ecological crisis management into their daily youth work. Beyond the participants, the project will contribute to the broader field of youth work by fostering policy dialogue, advocating for the role of youth in crisis response, and promoting sustainable disaster resilience practices across Europe.
