Within Hands on Resilience, we empowered youth to reconnect with nature through hands-on eco-practices, fostering deeper environmental awareness and stewardship while encouraging more sustainable behaviors. We supported young people in not waiting for world leaders to take action, but instead in taking collaborative, hands-on steps to create a more positive future. Aligned with the European Green Deal—aimed at making Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050—the project contributed to the EU’s goals of sustainability and environmental protection. By giving young people the tools and experiences to engage with nature, we promoted environmental stewardship, reduced feelings of helplessness, and encouraged proactive climate action. Specifically, the goals of the project were: Development of practical skills: equipping youth with hands-on experience in eco-landcare, natural construction, and sustainable living. Environmental knowledge: strengthening understanding of eco-practices, regenerative systems, and sustainable behavior, as well as understanding cultural differences and their impact through mutual learning. Youth empowerment: cultivating young people’s roles as changemakers, enabling them to inspire and lead others in climate action. Wellbeing: promoting both individual mental health and planetary wellbeing through nature connection and creative practices. Community living: exploring and sharing approaches to communal living and collective action for resilience. Cultural diversity and solidarity: fostering cross-cultural exchange and EU solidarity to inspire collaborative solutions to shared challenges. Hands on Resilience brought together youth from diverse backgrounds to address these challenges and take action toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
