Sustainable water usage and the circular economy have emerged as pressing global concerns, touching upon both environmental preservation and economic stability. The dwindling supply of water resources and the escalating generation of waste present a substantial peril to future generations. With this in mind, we aim to conduct an Erasmus+ youth exchange project that fosters awareness about water consumption and encourages young individuals to adopt circular economy principles. The depletion of water resources is a global phenomenon, leading to water scarcity in numerous regions and underscoring the imperative need for judicious water usage. Simultaneously, there is a noticeable surge in waste production, a substantial portion of which regrettably remains unrecycled. This perpetuates the exhaustion of natural resources and environmental contamination. The tenets of the circular economy advocate for enhanced resource utilization and waste reduction, effectively harmonizing economic advancement with environmental sustainability. SusEcoWater youth exchange project is financed by the EU. The project includes 42 participants and 1 facilitator from 6 different countries (Portugal, Türkiye, Hungary, Spain, Germany, Italy). Project activities take place in Braga/Portugal from 4th October to 13th October 2025. Youth represents an invaluable resource for shaping the future and making pivotal decisions. Nonetheless, the understanding and awareness of sustainable water consumption and circular economy principles among young people often leave room for improvement. Portugal, owing to its water resources, is persistently vulnerable to drought conditions. Sustainable water usage is instrumental in efficiently managing water resources and assuming a pivotal role in drought mitigation. Portugal is celebrated for its tourist destinations and picturesque coastal regions. The burgeoning tourism sector is poised to escalate water consumption, consequently impacting the environment. This project seeks to curtail the ecological footprint of tourism by advocating sustainable practices. Circular economy principles will aid Portugal in bolstering its economic progress by promoting resource efficiency, encompassing sustainable practices in waste management, recycling, and reuse. As Portugal is a European Union (EU) member, it is aligned with the substantial policies and objectives of the EU concerning sustainability and the circular economy. The synchronization of this project with EU policies and objectives will further Portugal's integration and sustainability. General Objective: To enhance young people's knowledge and skills in sustainable water consumption and circular economy, thereby encouraging awareness in these areas. Specific Objectives: 1-To instil the concept of sustainable water use in participants by explaining its principles. 2-To provide participants with the necessary skills to apply circular economy principles in their personal lives. 3-To motivate young people to increase sustainability awareness and promote this awareness in their communities.
