Objectives

The project “Empowering Youth Workers: Building Bridges Across Borders” (WAYE3B) was designed to strengthen the professional capacity, quality, and international cooperation of youth workers through Erasmus+ learning mobility activities. Coordinated by the Young Professional Development Society Portugal (YPDSP) in partnership with organizations from Czechia (Cesta rozvoje) and Estonia (Life zone), the project responded to the need for more innovative, inclusive, digital, and sustainable approaches in youth work. The main objective was to enhance the competences of youth workers by providing international training, peer learning opportunities, and the exchange of good practices. The project focused on developing skills in intercultural communication, inclusion and diversity, digital youth work, non-formal education, project management, evaluation, and sustainable community development. It also aimed to strengthen the recognition of youth work and support youth workers in delivering higher-quality services to young people in their local communities. The project consisted of three international training courses, each hosted in a different partner country: Foundations (Czech Republic), Digital Youth Work (Estonia), and Sustainability (Portugal). Through these three learning activities, participants explored innovative youth work methodologies, digital tools, intercultural learning, project design, and sustainability practices. The project promoted active citizenship, European values, democratic participation, solidarity, and respect for diversity while strengthening cooperation and long-term partnerships among youth organizations across Europe. The project directly contributed to Erasmus+ priorities on inclusion and diversity, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and participation in democratic life. It also supported several European Youth Goals, particularly those related to quality learning, youth participation, inclusive societies, and connecting the European Union with young people. As a result, participating youth workers strengthened their professional competencies, expanded their international networks, increased their capacity to develop innovative youth projects, and gained practical tools to support young people more effectively. The project created lasting partnerships between organizations and contributed to improving the quality, visibility, and long-term sustainability of youth work at local, national, and European levels.
