Objectives

Our project aims to respond to a pressing need identified among young people: the decrease in physical activity levels and the negative impact of this phenomenon on mental health and social inclusion. Through this project, we want to encourage an active and balanced lifestyle, using sport as a tool for personal and community development. What do we want to achieve by implementing the project? The main objective of the project is to increase the level of physical activity among young people with reduced opportunities and promote sport as an effective method of improving mental health, developing social skills and increasing social inclusion. We aim to combat the effects of sedentarism and the stress associated with academic and professional life, offering participants a learning space based on non-formal methods and various sports activities. Young people involved in the project will participate in 8 days of sports and recreational activities, including team sports, functional training, yoga and mindfulness, all aimed at supporting the balance between physical and mental health. Through these activities, we want to offer not only a valuable educational experience, but also a concrete opportunity to change the lifestyle of the participants. In the long term, the project will have a wider impact by disseminating the results to local communities and by creating useful resources that can be used by organizations and youth workers in similar initiatives. Project objectives in the context of working with youth A. Increasing the level of physical activity and well-being for 30 young people with reduced opportunities, through their participation in sports and recreational activities based on non-formal methods. Sport will be used as a method to promote physical and mental health, helping participants to manage stress and anxiety in a constructive way. B. Developing the social and emotional skills of young people, through their involvement in team and intercultural activities. Sport is an excellent tool for improving communication, collaboration and conflict resolution skills, and through non-formal education methods, participants will learn to interact more effectively and develop self-confidence. C. Promoting social inclusion and cultural diversity, by organizing an online campaign and local post-project events. We aim to inform at least 300 people about the role of sport in combating discrimination and facilitating the social integration of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. D. Creating useful resources for youth workers, including educational videos, testimonials and a good practice guide, which can be subsequently used by other organizations in similar activities. These materials will be distributed in youth networks and on relevant platforms, ensuring the continuity of the project's impact. Relevant methods and activities for working with young people The project is based on the use of non-formal education methods and on the creation of a participatory learning environment, which encourages young people to be actively involved in their own development process. Workshops and interactive sessions – to explore the impact of sport on mental health and personal development. Team games and structured sports activities – to stimulate collaboration, problem solving and team spirit. Flashmob and public events – to increase the visibility of the project and to promote its message in the community. Media campaign and dissemination activities – to inspire other young people to adopt an active and balanced lifestyle. The project addresses both the directly involved participants and their communities, aiming to create a multiplier effect through which the benefits of sport and non-formal education are widely recognized and capitalized on. Expected impact on young people and the community 30 young people with fewer opportunities will gain knowledge and practical skills regarding physical and mental health, through sports and exercise-based activities. Raising awareness in local communities about the benefits of sport as a tool for inclusion and mental health. Creating a network of young ambassadors of an active lifestyle, who will disseminate the knowledge gained among their colleagues and friends. Developing educational materials and resources, which can be subsequently used by organizations and youth workers in future initiatives.
