Objectives

In the current context, when democracy and European values are facing unprecedented challenges, this project comes as an urgent and necessary response to the danger of growth and radicalization and extremism. The phenomenon of right-wing extremism, fueled by disinformation and polarizing rhetoric, threatens social stability, trust in institutions and cohesion between citizens. It is our responsibility, as youth workers, to ensure that the voices of young people are heard, to inform and guide towards collaboration and solidarity, not division. What do we want to achieve by implementing this project? We aim to create a safe and collaborative space in which young people understand the dangers of extremism and become active promoters of democratic values and human rights. This project aims to equip young people with the necessary tools and knowledge to recognize, prevent and combat extremist narratives and radicalization, thus contributing to strengthening social cohesion and a strong European spirit. The project's action directions are: 1. Awareness and education: Raising awareness among young people about the dangers of radicalization and extremism, with a particular focus on right-wing extremism and its impact on democracy and human rights. Educating young people in identifying and combating online disinformation and propaganda. 2. Skills development: Developing essential skills in critical thinking, analysis and empathetic communication, to address difficult conversations and counter extremist narratives. Developing practical skills in organizing and implementing awareness campaigns and community actions. 3. Active engagement: Transforming young people into agents of change, able to actively contribute to preventing extremism in their communities. Promoting active participation in civic life, encouraging young people to become key actors in maintaining democracy and European values. 4. International Solidarity and Cooperation: Creating an intercultural framework that encourages collaboration between young people from different European countries, strengthening the sense of solidarity and belonging to the common values of the European Union. Facilitating the exchange of good practices between youth organizations involved in the prevention of radicalization and extremism. Overall goal of the project: Strengthening the resilience of young people against radicalization and extremism. In general, the objectives include: Creating a safe and inclusive educational framework that promotes democratic values and critical thinking. Facilitating intercultural collaboration between young people from 6 countries to combat disinformation and polarization. Developing a set of key competencies for recognizing and combating extremist propaganda. Transforming young people into active promoters of social cohesion and European values. Specific objective: 1. Raising awareness of democratic values and fundamental rights among 36 young people, on mobility. 2. Increasing the capacity to recognize extremist propaganda and content online, as well as their impact on communities, of 36 young people, over a period of 12 months. 3. Creating an educational framework for the development of critical thinking of 36 mobility participants. Why is this project urgent, necessary and why does it matter? The alarming increase in right-wing extremism and polarizing rhetoric represents a real threat to social cohesion and our democracies. Without a rapid and well-thought-out intervention, there is a risk that the younger generation will become vulnerable to hate and violence-inciting narratives. This project is not only an opportunity, but a pressing necessity to protect European democracies through the future education and active involvement of young people. Through this project, we propose to provide young people not only with information, but also with inspiration, encouraging them to become leaders in their communities and promoters of a more inclusive, safer and more united world. It is time to act together, with courage and determination, to combat extremism and build a future based on mutual respect, understanding and solidarity.
