Objectives

Stress among young people is rising due to everyday challenges, academic pressures, and social expectations, leading to mental health issues and life dissatisfaction. Without proper coping tools, this stress often results in anxiety, social withdrawal, and long-term emotional challenges. The "Sports for Mental Resilience" initiative addresses the need for effective stress management among youth by promoting physical activities proven to reduce stress. A study conducted by M. Theodoratou and colleagues (2020) found that physical activity significantly influences adolescents' emotions, self-esteem, and overall mental health. The researchers observed that physical activities led to feelings of revitalization and euphoria, significant stress relief, and improvements in self-image and school performance among participants. The project fills gaps in traditional sports by integrating mental health support, skill development, and cultural awareness through sports. It provides young people with practical tools to manage stress and have a healthier lifestyle.Additionally, the initiative incorporates non-formal education practices to ensure that the learning outcomes extend beyond physical activity and address emotional and social resilience. We aim to accomplish the following objectives: - Equip participants with tools for dealing with stress. - Enhance mental health and well-being in participants through sport activities. - Enhance communication, leadership, and intercultural understanding through teamwork in sports activities with participants from diverse cultures. - Strengthen European identity by introducing Erasmus+ opportunities and European values. - Reduce the stress in communities through sharing sports practices developed during the project through follow-up events and digital materials. The project addresses the challenges young people face in engaging with traditional sports, such as the significant commitment, physical demands, and time constraints of our fast-paced society. By offering practical and accessible sports exercises, it ensures that everyone, regardless of their fitness background can participate. By supporting collaboration and inclusivity through team-based sports activities, the initiative actively promotes EU values such as equality, cultural understanding, and human dignity, using sports as a unifying tool to bridge cultural and social differences. This will improve their mental and physical health, leading to personal growth and professional development. The impact of the project will spread through the local communities of the participants which will use sport and lead to an overall mentally healthier society.
