Among the youth we work with at our NGOs, the need to tackle cultural diversity and highlight the dangers of stereotyping and xenophobia is also growing stronger every year. We have more immigrants coming to each of our countries and our youth often shape their opinions based on biased media narratives. A focus group we conducted online back in 2024 across the NGOs in this partnership showed that our youth have a very low understanding of what they can do to contribute to combatting stereotypes and xenophobia. Some of our youth also don't understand these concepts very well and very few of them even show slight discriminatory attitudes towards minorities, often shaping them as jokes. In the same time, some of our youth are themselves victims of xenophobia, being immigrants, children of immigrants or belonging to different ethnicities in their countries. Our projects aims to support youth participation by empowering young people to increase their media literacy and contribute to combatting stereotypes and xenophobia. The objectives we set are: ● by the end of the YE, at least 75% of participants will show an improved understanding of cultural stereotypes and xenophobia (measured through pre- and post-YE surveys); ● during the YE and the following week, participants will create at least 10 digital products (videos or social media campaigns) that will contribute to combatting stereotypes and xenophobia and will be shared on at least three social media platforms (of our NGOs), reaching at least 3000 people in the first 3 months; ● participants will develop at least 3 follow-up activities in their local communities, for a total of at least 50 other young people, in the first 6 months after the YE.
