Objectives

Project Rationale and Goals Through the implementation of this project, we aim to create an innovative framework for youth democratic education, addressing the low levels of political engagement and fostering active citizens capable of positively influencing their communities. In a European context where youth participation in democratic processes is declining and distrust in political institutions is growing, our project will provide young people with the necessary tools and skills to take an active role in shaping their future. Why is this project necessary? -European youth are increasingly disconnected from political processes. -In France, 43% of young people did not vote in the 2024 legislative elections (LeMonde). -In Romania, 2 out of 3 young people believe the country is heading in the wrong direction, significantly affecting democratic participation (2022 Study). -In Turkey, despite high voter turnout, youth protests (e.g., Gezi Park, 2013) reflect deep dissatisfaction with governance and restrictions on civil liberties. -In Hungary, youth engagement in democratic life is declining due to political disillusionment and lack of trust in democratic institutions. This is both a challenge and an opportunity -European youth need practical civic education to understand how they can influence public policies. -Critical thinking and democratic leadership are essential skills for an inclusive and equitable society. -Early youth engagement in democracy can combat political apathy and stimulate long-term participation. Project Objectives 1. Increasing awareness and democratic education for 48 young participants Through interactive non-formal education methods, we will ensure that participants: -Understand the fundamentals of democracy, political systems, and the electoral process. -Gain knowledge about the importance of voting and how democratic institutions function. -Familiarize themselves with their rights and the mechanisms through which they can influence public policies. -Measurable outcome: At least 80% of participants will report an increase in their knowledge of democratic processes. 2. Active youth participation in political simulations and democratic processes We will organize election simulations, debates, and discussions on current political topics, providing participants with hands-on experience. At least 30 participants will be motivated to become more actively involved in their communities' political life. 3. Training young leaders and promoting active citizenship We will support participants in developing leadership and advocacy skills, encouraging them to become democracy ambassadors in their communities. At least 20 young people will initiate local activities to promote civic engagement. 4. Developing critical thinking and argumentation skills among young people Through debates and interactive sessions, participants will be challenged to: -Analyze and evaluate different political perspectives. -Formulate well-informed arguments and actively participate in democratic debates. -Measurable outcome: At least 75% of participants will report an improvement in their critical thinking and debating skills. 5. Creating long-term impact and disseminating results We will implement a broad dissemination strategy, including: -Social media campaigns, post-project workshops, and collaborations with local authorities. -Distribution of educational materials in schools, universities, and youth NGOs. -Measurable outcome: The dissemination efforts will reach at least 10,000 people, with at least 10% adopting democratic engagement behaviors. Project Impact on Youth Engagement -Accessible democratic education – Young people will gain essential skills related to active citizenship and their role in society. -Active community participation – We will create a ripple effect, where participants will positively influence future generations. -Future leadership development – We will support the growth of local leaders who can promote democratic values. -Promoting social inclusion – The project will ensure the participation of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds and vulnerable groups. -A measurable long-term impact – Increased youth participation in elections and democratic processes at national and European levels.
