Objectives

Our project aims to address the pressing environmental challenges created by the fashion industry, especially fast fashion, by encouraging young people to become advocates and leaders in the field of sustainability and sustainable development. Through this project, we seek to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to engage in green fashion practices, to develop sustainable business models and to promote green activism in their communities. Ultimately, we aim to foster a generation of environmentally conscious individuals who can drive positive change in the fashion industry and beyond. Key objectives from a Youth Work perspective: - We aim to educate young people about how the fashion industry contributes to environmental degradation, including pollution, waste and unsustainable production practices. By deepening their understanding of these issues, we encourage critical thinking and inspire them to make informed and sustainable fashion choices. - Our project will focus on teaching practical skills such as recycling, reusing and eco-friendly fashion design. These practical activities will provide young people with tangible solutions to reduce waste in the fashion industry, while encouraging creativity and innovation in sustainable practices. - We aim to develop leadership and entrepreneurship skills by guiding young people in developing their own eco-friendly fashion businesses and sustainability initiatives. This includes creating sustainable business models, organising promotional campaigns and leading community environmental projects, all aimed at positioning young people as leaders in their communities. - By bringing together young people from different countries, we aim to promote intercultural learning and the exchange of good practices related to sustainability and fashion. This intercultural collaboration will broaden participants’ understanding of different approaches to environmental challenges and strengthen European solidarity in tackling these global issues. - Our project aims to encourage participants to become active advocates for sustainable fashion and environmental responsibility. Through training, mentoring and the creation of advocacy and support campaigns, young people will gain the confidence to influence their peers, communities and decision-makers to adopt sustainable fashion alternatives. Long-term sustainability and future expansion: To ensure long-term impact, we will create post-project mentoring programs and establish a network of sustainability alumni. These initiatives will allow participants to stay connected, continue to collaborate and apply their skills in their communities long after the project has ended. The network will provide ongoing support, access to resources and opportunities for further development, ensuring that the project results are sustained and expanded. - As part of our expansion strategy, we plan to develop new partnerships with additional organizations across Europe that share our commitment to sustainable fashion and environmental activism. This will allow us to increase the number of participants in future iterations of the project and further diversify the intercultural exchange. - In future iterations, we propose to expand the project to include larger groups of participants from more countries, allowing for a wider impact and encouraging even greater collaboration between young Europeans. - To consolidate the momentum generated by this project, we intend to seek additional E+ funding and other environmental grants for follow-up projects. These spin-off initiatives will include specialized programs focused on eco-entrepreneurship, circular economy practices and green jobs. Such initiatives will ensure the continued growth of the project and empower young people to lead in sustainable practices. Post-project support and contributions from partners: Partner organizations will play a crucial role in supporting these efforts, providing logistical support for follow-up activities such as local sustainability initiatives, advocacy campaigns and green business development workshops. These activities will align with E+’s goals of promoting long-term youth development and leadership in environmental sustainability. Through the continued engagement of partners and the support of the alumni network, we will ensure that participants remain engaged in their sustainability journeys, driving continuous change practices in their communities. The combination of practical skills, leadership development and long-term mentoring will position participants as leaders in the field of sustainability, making lasting contributions to both their local environment and the wider European community.
