Objectives

“LSRY - Lifelong Skills for Resilient Youth” aimed to develop soft skills among participants, enhancing their ability to communicate well, build trust, and manage different school and life situations in order to obtain the best results. Soft skills are personality traits and interpersonal skills that characterise a person's interactions and relations with their surrounding environment and with other people. Soft skills are considered to be a complement to hard skills, which refer to a person's knowledge and occupational skills. Examples of soft skills include communication skills, competent decision making, ethics, time management, creative thinking, teamwork, networking, organisational skills, leadership and flexibility. Soft skills are complementary to hard skills (which are measurable and obtainable through formal education and training). A strong combination of both sets of skills leads directly to growth both on a personal level and on an academic/professional one. The idea of the project was to offer youngsters, especially those with fewer educational opportunities and NEETs, the necessary tools to thrive in the context of interviews, job applications, deadlines and on the spot decision-making. To make sure the project covered the needs of youth from each of the partners’ communities, together we created a questionnaire that served as a part of the needs analysis and applied it in local communities from which participants to the project were selected on 1-5 of September 2024, gathering at least 100 answers in each country, respecting gender balance. Identified candidates, with the help of local authorities and highschools, included NEETs and youth facing socioeconomic and geographic barriers, focusing on the needs of least advantaged youth, coming from small towns and rural zones, ages 18–25 year-olds. Needs identified : lack of participation in non-formal activities designed to help youth develop soft skills outside of school in local communities; lack of self confidence in their communication skills or job interview experience; lack of preparedness in schools for job interviews, how to design and create a CV and choose a career path. Participants indicated the desire to participate in Erasmus+ projects designed around the idea of soft skills development for employability; developing communication, social and digital skills for discovering and accessing job opportunities more easily and feeling more prepared to face job interviews and adapt to new social and working situations, teamwork. They considered that active participation in their communities in offline and online activities can help them better connect, develop and improve digital and interpersonal skills, build self confidence. The project offered participants the necessary tools to thrive in the context of digital changes on the job market, find and apply for internship and job opportunities successfully, become more self confident and prepared for job interviews, make professional CVs, improve English skills, soft skills and active participation. Project objectives: 1. Develop soft skills for 35 participants, including 5 group leaders and at least 10 NEETs, aged 18-25, that helped raise their employability chances through non-formal activities, including a 7-day mobility (O1). 2. Increase self-confidence, intercultural awareness and the importance of lifelong learning for 35 participants, including 5 group leaders and at least 10 NEETs, through active participation in project and follow-up activities and an intercultural exchange during a 7 day mobility (O2).
