Objectives

The Green Pathways: Empowering NEET Youth for Sustainable Futures Project aligns with the strategic goals and operational needs of each participating associations. The ILO reports high NEET rates and rising youth employment anxiety, yet global youth unemployment has reached a 15-year low, currently standing at 13%, with expectations to decrease to 12.8% by 2025 (Turkey 23%, North Macedonia 18%, Romania 16%, Greece 16%, Bulgaria 13%, Poland 12%). In the partner organizations, we have observed that many unemployed young individuals are constantly generating new ideas and striving to turn them into valuable opportunities for both themselves and others. These young people seek guidance from our associations, looking for mentors who can help transform their ideas and dreams into reality. A significant portion of the youth we work with come from disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly those in rural and low socio-economic areas. These young people face barriers in accessing higher education and securing stable employment, with many falling into the NEET category. Barriers to NEET participation: 1. Limited access to training, education, and employment pathways creates inequality and social exclusion. 2. Global challenges: Climate change and sustainability are urgent issues. NEET youth lack the knowledge and awareness about green entrepreneurship and sustainable practices. 3. Capacity gaps in partner organizations: Many partner organizations lack the necessary capacity to address the specific needs of NEET youth, particularly in socio-economic and sustainability contexts. To enable effective interventions, capacity-building is needed in areas such as green entrepreneurship, social economy structures, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Implementation Challenges: Two partner organizations are newer and lack the technical and logistical expertise needed to successfully implement international projects. 4. Limited sustainability integration: Three partner organizations have not sufficiently incorporated sustainability principles into their projects, missing opportunities to align their activities with the SDGs and promote green practices among NEET youth (Turkey 22%, Poland 34%, North Macedonia 38%, Greece 48%, Bulgaria 64%, Romania 78%). This project brings together 26 youth workers from six countries, Romania, North Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Poland, and Bulgaria, for a 6-day training program in Focsani, Romania. The primary goal is to equip youth workers with practical methods to include NEET youth in the social economy, focusing on aligning activities with the SDGs. The training will include interactive workshops, experiential learning, and collaborative activities to strengthen participants' ability to implement green entrepreneurship initiatives and address stereotypes related to disadvantaged groups. Objectives : Objective 1: To enhance the technical and institutional capacity of the 6 partner organizations by at least 70%, raising awareness about social economy structures aligned with the SDGs, and boosting their entrepreneurial, social, and digital skills. This will facilitate up to a 20% increase in NEET youth access to green labor markets and green socio-economic structures. Objective 2: To provide specific tools for at least 240 NEET and other disadvantaged youth (rural, immigrant, refugee, and national minority youth) to achieve a 30% increase in green entrepreneurship, creativity, and employability skills. Objective 3: To enhance the social dimension of entrepreneurship in green sectors and promote online collaboration by at least 30%, fostering solidarity and responsibility among youth from the 6 partner countries. The partner associations have consistently focused on supporting disadvantaged youth, including NEETs through various initiatives: The project offers specialized training for youth workers, equipping them with advanced skills in mentoring and promoting green entrepreneurship,by creating a toolkit of sustainable practices and training methods, the project provides long-term resources that can be integrated into the organizations' existing activities, providing structured mentorship programs .A toolkit of training methods will be developed to empower youth workers and organizations to replicate the project’s successes in their local contexts; Innovative approaches such as online collaboration and interactive activities will bridge gaps in access to resources. Youth workers target group: 120 youth workers, educators, mentors, and psychologists from six partner countries NEET youth target group:40 NEET, young people The project focuses on supporting NEET,and young people from vulnerable backgrounds, including those from rural and urban poor areas, Ukrainian youth refugees, minorities or immigrant groups.
