Objectives

The project 'Think, Get Involved, Act' is designed to address the growing challenges faced by young people in contemporary digital society. The main objectives of the project include improving media literacy, enhancing critical thinking skills, and encouraging democratic participation among youth. In the digital age, young people are increasingly exposed to misinformation and manipulative content, leading to polarization and a decreased willingness for constructive dialogue. According to the 2023 Eurobarometer, 83% of EU citizens consider misinformation a serious threat to democracy, with young people aged 16 to 25 being the most active internet users and the most vulnerable to fake news. The project aims to equip young people with tools to recognize false information, analyze information sources, and develop skills in argumentation and public speaking. Additionally, the project seeks to increase civic engagement among youth. According to the European Youth Strategy 2019-2027, only 59% of young people in Europe feel that their voice has an impact on democratic processes, with even lower percentages in rural and socio-economically disadvantaged communities. Through simulations of democratic processes, experiential learning, and work on local initiatives, the project will empower young people to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their communities. Another key objective of the project is to strengthen intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding among young people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. The project will create an inclusive space where young people can share their experiences, learn about other cultures, and develop empathy. This will contribute to building a European identity and a sense of solidarity.
