Objectives

By implementing the project “Back to Nature”, we wanted to create an international learning environment where young people from different countries could strengthen their personal and social competences, improve their mental well-being, reconnect with nature, and develop stronger awareness about sustainability, inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and active participation in society. The main idea behind the project was to respond to the growing challenges young people face today, especially stress, social pressure, lack of connection with nature, and limited opportunities for meaningful intercultural interaction. Through the combination of non-formal education, outdoor learning, teamwork, reflection, and intercultural exchange, the project aimed to provide participants with practical experiences that would positively influence both their personal development and their future involvement in local communities and international youth activities. One of the key objectives of the project was to raise awareness about mental well-being and the positive impact that nature and outdoor activities can have on emotional balance, stress reduction, and healthy lifestyles. Through mindfulness activities, hiking, outdoor workshops, reflection sessions, team-building exercises, and a field trip in nature, participants were encouraged to disconnect from everyday pressures, spend more time outdoors, and better understand the importance of maintaining healthy routines and emotional stability. Another important objective was to encourage environmentally responsible attitudes and increase awareness about sustainability and environmental protection. Through workshops, discussions, eco-oriented activities, and sustainable practices implemented during the mobility, participants learned about environmentally conscious behaviour, responsible use of resources, and the importance of preserving natural environments. The project also aimed to contribute to the green and digital priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme through reduced paper usage, the use of digital tools such as Canva and Mentimeter, and sharing educational materials digitally instead of printing them. The project also aimed to strengthen intercultural dialogue, solidarity, inclusion, and cooperation among young people from different social, cultural, and educational backgrounds. By working together in mixed international groups during workshops, discussions, outdoor activities, and intercultural evenings, participants developed stronger communication skills, teamwork competences, openness towards diversity, and appreciation of different cultures and perspectives. An additional objective was to create a safe and supportive environment where participants, especially those with fewer opportunities, could actively participate, express themselves freely, and feel equally included in all activities regardless of their background or previous international experience. Through participant-centred non-formal education methods, peer learning, reflection activities, and continuous support from facilitators and group leaders, the project encouraged active participation, confidence building, empathy, mutual respect, and stronger social inclusion. Another important objective of the project was to support the development of practical competences and soft skills that are valuable both in personal life and future professional development. Through teamwork tasks, debates, presentations, outdoor challenges, brainstorming sessions, and group activities, participants improved their communication, leadership, adaptability, problem-solving, critical thinking, intercultural cooperation, and organisational skills. The project additionally aimed to increase young people’s awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities, Youthpass, European values, and active citizenship while motivating them to become more involved in volunteering, youth work, local initiatives, and future international projects. At the same time, the project intended to strengthen cooperation between partner organisations, exchange good practices in non-formal education and youth work, and create a stronger foundation for future international partnerships and Erasmus+ cooperation. The final participant feedback and evaluation activities confirmed that the project successfully achieved these objectives, as participants reported increased self-confidence, stronger teamwork and intercultural competences, greater environmental awareness, improved communication skills, and stronger motivation for future participation in youth initiatives and international projects.
