Objectives

Project will equip 20 youth worker practitioners from Serbia and Slovenia with the skills and confidence to moderate, facilitate, and organize public events in the field of youth, ensuring inclusivity, meaningful engagement, and professional execution. Those events in the field of youth range from debates, forums, public dialogues, workshops, lecturing, panel discussions, networking events, and community initiatives, fostering active youth participation and strengthening youth engagement. Those events should be designed to be always inclusive, respecting the principle of co-creation, ensuring that young people are creators, organisers and active participants. SCC Kragujevac from Serbia and NGO SOVI institute from Slovenia members held several meetings in 2024 to discuss current needs in both communities and both countries. We agreed that youth public events empower young people, foster dialogue, and strengthen democratic participation but that there is also a lack of facilitation and moderation skills in youth work, insufficient strategies for inclusivity in youth events and weak event planning structures and methodologies. We emphasised that in Serbia we urgently need transformative approaches, while Slovenia lacks participatory youth activities managed by less experienced youth workers as many youth workers lack structured methodologies, facilitation skills, and strategies for inclusivity, making events less impactful. We agreed that reflective learning space for youth workers from Serbia and Slovenia would be the key to our approach in this project. This project was created to: ● Support the development of high-quality moderators and facilitators in the field of youth who can guide meaningful discussions, manage public events, and amplify youth voices. ● Provide practical, step-by-step event planning tools to help youth workers confidently structure, promote, and execute youth events. ● Ensure that youth events prioritize inclusivity and accessibility, reaching marginalized young people and fostering equal participation. ● Create a network of trained youth facilitators who can mentor young leaders and sustain youth engagement efforts beyond the training. ● Through non-formal education, experiential learning, and expert guidance, the training will equip youth workers with the confidence, adaptability, and ethical framework needed to organize and moderate youth events effectively. Needs addressed by the project: 1. Lack of facilitation and moderation skills in events in the field of youth Youth work practitioners engaged in leading youth initiatives, debates, and forums, often lack solid moderation skills to ensure inclusive, engaging, and structured discussions. The project fills this gap by providing hands-on training in public speaking, event moderation, and ethical facilitation techniques. 2. Insufficient strategies for inclusivity in youth events Youth workers (especially newcomers) frequently struggle to engage marginalized young people in public events, leading to a lack of diversity in participation. The project integrates inclusive methodologies, accessibility strategies, and practical tools to ensure that public events are representative of all young voices, including those from vulnerable or underrepresented groups. 3. Weak event planning structures and methodologies Many public events in the field of youth in both participating countries lack clear planning frameworks, logistical strategies, and promotional techniques, making it difficult to sustain high-quality engagement. Through practical workshops, the project will train youth workers to design, plan, and execute public events step by step, using design thinking, project journey mapping, and participatory event planning methods. 4. Limited networking and collaboration opportunities The project fosters peer-to-peer learning, cross-border collaboration between Slovenian and Serbian youth workers, and the creation of a professional facilitator network. This will enable participants to support each other beyond the training. Objectives of the project: 1. Empower youth workers with professional facilitation skills - participants will develop strong moderation, facilitation, and public speaking abilities, gaining confidence in guiding discussions and engaging audiences through structured methodologies. 2. Enhance event planning and organizational competencies - youth workers will acquire practical tools and step-by-step strategies for planning, promoting, and managing youth events, with hands-on experience in execution. 3. Foster inclusivity and accessibility in youth public events - the training will equip participants with skills to design inclusive events, engage marginalized young people, and adapt facilitation styles to diverse audiences. 4. Strengthen cross-border collaboration and sustainable impact.
