Objectives

By implementing this project, we aim to address the critical issue of gender equality through an intersectional approach, focusing specifically on the experiences of young women with disabilities and other marginalized groups. Our ambition is to empower youth workers and organizations from seven countries by equipping them with the knowledge, competencies, and tools needed to address gender-based challenges and systemic discrimination in their local contexts. Through this initiative, we seek to foster a deeper understanding of gender theory, promote inclusive practices in youth work, and contribute to societal change by advocating for human rights and equality. The primary objective of the project is to provide 24 participants with a comprehensive understanding of gender equality, including the intersection of disability and other factors such as socio-economic status, ethnicity, and geographical location. The project intends to create a platform for dialogue, exchange of experiences, and peer-to-peer learning between youth workers from diverse cultural and social contexts. By doing so, we aim to enhance their ability to evaluate existing policies, implement intersectional analyses, and develop innovative solutions to address gender inequality and promote inclusion. Specifically, the objectives of the project include: Equipping participants with extensive knowledge of gender theory and policies at both national and European levels, enabling them to better understand the systemic challenges faced by marginalized groups. Empowering participants with the skills and tools needed to conduct intersectional analyses, identify root causes of gender inequality, and explore the interconnectedness of social inclusion and gender-related issues. Facilitating discussions around systemic discrimination practices in key areas such as media, judiciary systems, and education, and encouraging participants to develop actionable solutions to combat these inequalities. Strengthening advocacy capacities by providing participants with practical skills to draft policy recommendations, evaluate current policies, and undertake advocacy activities to influence change in their respective communities. Supporting participants in designing informed responses and interventions to address gender inequality at the policy and practice levels. Enhancing the capacities of youth workers and partner organizations to initiate and sustain gender-inclusive activities, thereby improving the quality of their work with marginalized youth. The seminar is designed to foster an inclusive and safe learning environment where participants can engage in non-formal education methods, such as experiential learning, participatory approaches, and peer-to-peer exchanges. Participants will explore key topics such as gender theory, systemic discrimination, advocacy, policy-making, and inclusive practices. These activities will contribute to the development of civic and social competences, empowering participants to become change-makers in their communities and beyond. The project also reflects the specific needs of the participating organizations. All partner organizations are actively working with youth from disadvantaged groups and have expressed a strong commitment to promoting inclusion and equality. The project offers a unique opportunity for these organizations to enhance their capacities, share best practices, and learn from one another in an international setting.
