Artificial Intelligence and the Natural Countryside was a project conceived on the basis of an initiative by young people who see their future in rural life outside the city. The project was an upgrade of our previous project 'Digital countryside-let's dig it up' and is now expanding in a digital sense, which newly includes the topic of artificial intelligence, which young people are still getting to know, but are aware that competences in this area are also important in rural areas. The driving force of the project was a group of six young people living in Ravne na Koroškem, who wanted to research, through cooperation with youth from Malta,Slovakia,Serbia,North Macedonia and Greece, which digital competences are important for life outside the city. They noticed themselves that sometimes they are not even aware of the advantages that life in the countryside brings compared to life in the city, but in conversations with youth from elsewhere they find that they are able to appreciate these advantages more.Rural areas are very often considered to offer fewer opportunities, especially for young people and their active lives. We carried out two activities in the project:a preparatory visit and a youth exchange, with which we pursued the following set goals:developing young people's skills (digital skills, communication) and strengthening their mutual relationships (networking, new friendships); active participation of young people (preparation of workshops, feeling of belonging to the group);open discussion about prejudices (skin color, religion),breaking taboo topics (sexuality, addiction),stereotypes;strengthening European values-young people gained a sense of European belonging and established an active intercultural dialogue.Given that our organization is located in a rural area, young people gather under our umbrella, but when compared to their youth from urban environments, they sometimes feel in an unequal position.Young people from the partner countries come from both rural and urban environments, with urban youth aware of their advantages in terms of more opportunities in the digital world,so we met online (Zoom meetings) to equalize this inequality or to map the potential to rural areas.Through the project, we wanted to enable young people to have learning mobility and to understand and support them in their formative years in the best possible way.By implementing the youth exchange, young people had the opportunity to explore and recognize the potential of rural areas (clean environment, air, space) for youth and business work. They thoroughly explored digital opportunities (employment) and found a way to integrate digitalization and artificial intelligence into their rural environment.During the main activity youth exchange, young people fully felt what local natural and cultural potentials (local community connections, heritage) mean, which are worth exploiting as potential in the digital world.Young people saw only a small part of their advantages, but young people from our partner organizations recognize the advantages from a different perspective. In this regard,we wanted to connect young people from different European countries with each other in order to exchange and also build on ideas and initial experiences in developing their own ideas, which will increase their entrepreneurial and employment opportunities in the rural environment. The project includes various specifics of the digitalization of the rural environment (working from home),interconnection and greater visibility on the world wide web.Project was also a kind of concise overview of how demographic conditions change over time, that once rural families stared at the cities for work, then with the outbreak of the health epidemic, young people see the countryside as the future, which can be revived in demographic terms, namely by introducing an innovative approach, namely through artificial intelligence, which would allow them to live in a safe and healthy environment in a remote environment and at the same time provide a business opportunity to develop business ideas, e.g. innovative remote work.It is still generally accepted that rural areas are undernourished with business offers.Through this project,we also wanted to enable young people to participate in a youth exchange, where they would gain a range of experiences (video, photo production, heritage) and ideas on how they can, with their active participation, convert the natural and cultural features of the rural environment into sustainable development and thus raise the diversity of the offer and the recognition of the countryside to a higher level.Common thread of the project was artificial intelligence and digital work, which local youth had not previously known to a sufficient extent, but which young people are nevertheless very attracted to.A group of 36 young people from 6 countries exchanged challenges, initiatives and ideas through learning mobility that would provide them with a quality business opportunity.
