Thousands of young people across Europe found themselves in a difficult situation. Despite having a good education and motivation to work, many struggled to compete in a labour market that increasingly demanded digital competences. The frustration was real; qualified candidates were falling behind simply because they lacked the technical knowledge needed to present their skills or adapt to digital working environments. With the project “Unlocking New Careers with Digital Skills”, we aimed to address this problem by equipping young people with the digital tools they need for job searching. Through practical activities, participants improved their skills and knowledge in areas that support career opportunities, such as digital marketing, CV writing, social media, and other useful tools. The project pursued the following objectives: - To provide participants with knowledge about different digital professions and the skills required for each of them. - To improve employability by aligning participants’ skills with labour market demands. - To equip participants with essential digital skills, from basic literacy to specialised competences. - To encourage the exchange of good practices among young people from different countries. - To develop teamwork and intercultural understanding through cooperation. - To increase participants’ awareness of European identity and Erasmus+ opportunities. - To improve the digital skills of young people within local communities. By the end of the project, participants not only had better career opportunities, but also stronger digital skills. They shared their knowledge with local communities through the Digital Skills Toolkit, Digital Skills Educational Videos, and follow-up activities. In this way, the project contributed to shaping a generation of young people capable of presenting their skills on the labour market and finding better employment opportunities.
