Through the youth exchange Into the World, we aimed to provide young people with an experience of international cooperation, to encourage their personal and social development, and to empower them for active participation in youth work and their local communities. The project originated from the concrete initiative of young people who took part in a youth exchange in Italy in August 2024 and wished to offer a similar experience to their peers from abroad. With this project, we wanted to enable young people to experience the entire project cycle – from idea to implementation – while learning responsibility, cooperation, and reflection, and gaining experiences that will benefit them in further education, entering the labour market, and active citizenship. The main objectives of the project were to: - promote active youth participation and their sense of initiative and responsibility, - develop young people’s key competences, especially in communication, cooperation, self-initiative, and organisation, - strengthen international cooperation between youth organisations and participants from four countries, - provide Slovenian participants with the experience of hosting an international exchange, including planning, implementation, and evaluation, - encourage young people’s connection with nature, promote sustainable lifestyles, and develop skills for meaningful outdoor leisure, - foster intercultural learning through sharing traditional games, customs, and ways of spending free time in the participating countries, - strengthen young people’s awareness of international opportunities such as Erasmus+, the European Solidarity Corps, and DiscoverEU, - reinforce the international network of organisations and exchange good practices in youth work.
