Objectives

The aim of the project is that youth workers learn about key competencies and methods of art media that increase young people's own ability to achieve mental health, well-being and build capacity. Through these methods, they will learn to develop protective factors in young people: my social and emotional skills, knowledge, self-awareness, mindfulness, physical abilities, self-regulation abilities, etc.. They will also how youth workers can encourage community and peer to peer support and address social inequalities/cultural circumstances with youth. We want to emphasize and highlight the importance of youth work and the youth sector for the empowerment of young people, and especially the promotion of the holistic development of young people for positive mental health, because this build psychosocial strengths, competencies and resources in individuals and communities. The aim of the project is to give participants a clear understanding of what youth workers can do to develop these competences, and to learn about concrete interesting/inspiring techniques for promoting resilience and holistic development of young people and empowerment. The aim of this project is to share concrete, interesting and innovative experiential methods of working with young people that strengthen these supportive factors in young people. With the aim that youth workers will be able to use them more confidently in their work. We want to share knowledge about the use of of different artisitc media (theatre, visual arts and movement metods) in connection with empowerment of individuals and groups. The dynamics of play, improvisation and the creative process, to support the positive mental health of young people. Theoretically, experientially and through the transfer of practical tools and methods/techniques of work creative process, we will go over key competences that are important for building capacity and resilience/flexibility of young people. We will also delve into community support, as an important safety net that youth workers can co-create for young people or help them become aware of where they can lean. We will also present methods of theatre that open and address social contexts, help young people confront inequalities, and empower vulnerable groups. We also want to share inclusive practices of using creative media (such as Theatre of the Oppressed, art therapy, coaching through art, Gestalt play therapy, social learning through art, etc.) when working with vulnerable groups and sensitive topics, and how to use these methods inclusively when involving vulnerable individuals. We want youth workers to be aware of the characteristics and advantages of different techniques, to be able to use and adapt them to their target groups, and to also choose which experiential method they will use to develop the goal they want. To understand why developing these goals, specific skills in young people is important for their mental health. As well as to learn how to develop concrete workshops in this area for their youth groups. We also want to exchange different practices of experiential learning and artistic/creative media organizations and from all this to extract future good practice for each specific organization. This is about building a community among youth workers, especially to support each other in innovative, holistic and experiential methods of empowering young people and communities and to improve our practice. The goal is for the organizations involved to improve their practice in this area and to develop greater awareness of the importance of holistic learning, youth empowerment and mental health support, also at the EU level, and to be able to use concrete inspiring tools of creative media for this development. In addition, the topics and methods of work will, among other things, teach youth workers how to manage their stress, self-regulation, recognize emotions, make sense of values, and will also contribute to their personal growth and mental health. We want to implement the practice and model of quality youth work through art media in connection with the topic of youth mental health. The model will be further expanded through the promotion of the project and the local operation of organizations. We have also included innovative methods of experiential learning with young people in this model, which we and our partners have recognized as high-quality and effective. The cooperation of organizations and the dissemination of results will increase the quality and innovation of youth work, especially with a more vulnerable group of young people. An important goal is also to develop and transfer tools/methods/knowledge for use in their organization (according to their needs and target group, and pedagogical goals) and to spread them more widely. For this purpose, participants will develop their own workshops, and teaching materials will also be produced - a manual of collected practices.
