Objectives

The “Act for Democracy” training course was implemented in response to the growing need to strengthen democratic participation, active citizenship, and human rights awareness among young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities. Across Europe, democratic values have been increasingly challenged, while many young people have remained disengaged from civic and political life due to a lack of knowledge, confidence, and access to participation mechanisms. This situation has been even more evident among disadvantaged groups, who often face structural barriers that limit their inclusion in decision-making processes. The project aimed to address these challenges by empowering youth workers and youth leaders, who play a key role in supporting and guiding young people. By equipping them with relevant knowledge, practical tools, and non-formal education methods, the training course strengthened their capacity to foster active citizenship, promote democratic values, and raise awareness about human rights among the young people they work with. Particular emphasis was placed on inclusion, ensuring that participants were better prepared to engage and support young people from marginalized backgrounds. Furthermore, the project created an international learning environment that brought together participants from eight different countries, enabling the exchange of experiences, good practices, and approaches related to democracy and youth participation. This intercultural dimension contributed to a deeper understanding of common challenges across Europe and encouraged long-term cooperation among organisations. A key objective of the project was the development of a practical and sustainable outcome, an online toolbox consisting of interactive methods, games, and activities focused on active citizenship, democracy, and human rights education. This resource was designed to support youth workers in their daily practice and to ensure the long-term impact and transferability of the project results across different contexts. Objectives: - To equip youth workers and youth leaders with the knowledge, skills, and non-formal education methods necessary to promote active citizenship, democracy, and human rights among young people. - To raise awareness of democratic values, the rule of law, human rights, and multiculturalism, particularly in relation to young people with fewer opportunities. - To strengthen the capacity of participants to engage and empower marginalized youth in civic and democratic processes. - To foster intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation among youth workers from different countries. - To develop a practical online toolbox with methods and activities supporting youth participation and democratic engagement. - To encourage the development of future Erasmus+ projects focused on active citizenship and youth participation.
