Objectives

Project Over the Hills 2 is designed to enable young people with mobility impairments and other associated difficulties to gain experiences they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience. The goals of the project are aimed at improving the social skills, self-confidence, and overall quality of life of young participants. It allows young people with mobility impairments, health problems, and behavioral and emotional disorders to travel and explore Europe on equal terms with their peers. The experiences gained through project activities encourage the development of life skills, resourcefulness, inclusion of all, and the strengthening of European identity. Project Goals: - Independent planning and execution of trips: With support, young people independently plan a trip to a foreign country (search for accommodations, plan the route, make reservations). - Strengthening organizational skills and building confidence in making real-time decisions. - Engaging in new and unfamiliar situations: Young people will find themselves in new situations and will have to adapt to a foreign environment, which will improve their problem-solving skills and adaptability to situations and each other. - Learning about different cultures, customs, and languages: Traveling will be an opportunity to learn about other cultures, customs, languages, and people from diverse backgrounds, contributing to greater cultural awareness and tolerance. - Using a foreign language in real situations: Young people will use a foreign language, primarily English, which will improve their language competencies. - Strengthening social skills and cooperation: Young people will be required to connect, cooperate, and respond to each other's needs, developing teamwork and mutual support skills. - Enhancing assertive communication and taking responsibility: Young people will be encouraged to engage in assertive communication and take responsibility in various situations, improving their communication skills and self-confidence. - Providing realistic feedback: Young people will be encouraged to provide realistic feedback to each other, contributing to their personal and social development. - Gaining new experiences: Young people will gain experiences they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience, see the attractions of other countries, and learn about the social, political, and infrastructural arrangements of other countries, which will also stimulate thinking about their own country and the opportunities it offers or lacks. The project will have long-term benefits for the participants, as the skills and experiences gained will be used in their daily lives and in further education or employment. The project will also contribute to expanding the organization's network and improving the quality of work with young people with mobility impairments and other health and emotional-behavioral difficulties.
