Objectives

Through the youth exchange, we aim to raise young people's awareness of environmental sustainability and develop their practical skills in this area. During the duration of the project, participants will learn new knowledge about their ecological footprint, the three R's, alternative uses of materials and other areas, which they will then be able to apply in their daily lives and extend to their immediate surroundings. Project objectives to be achieved: Increase environmental awareness - Each participant will gain a basic knowledge of ecological footprint, sustainable consumption and recycling, which we will verify with a final questionnaire, with at least 80% of the participants expected to show a higher level of knowledge compared to the initial assessment. Practical application of sustainable solutions - Participants will create a minimum of three practical products (solar oven, upcycled products, artworks from materials that would end up in the waste stream) and attend sustainability workshops. Their success will be measured by the quality of the outputs and reflection at the end of each workshop. Collaborative and confident presenting - Each participant will engage in multiple forms of presenting - either individual or group presentations on environmental issues. Overcoming fear of public speaking and receiving constructive feedback will be an outcome throughout the project. These will not only be evaluated by the facilitators, but also by other youth, adding their own critical thinking to the evaluation. In the same way, they will also work on designing follow ups, i.e. presentations, to then carry these out together. Long-term impact and action plans - At the end of the project, each participant will create a personal plan that identifies at least three specific steps they will take to promote sustainability in their home and, if applicable, community when they return home. These steps should represent new initiatives or changes in his/her behaviour that he/she has not yet considered necessary or had sufficient information about. After three months, their implementation will be evaluated through an online questionnaire, with the aim that at least half of the participants will have demonstrated concrete progress. International cooperation and communication - Strengthening the interaction between participants after the end of the project, with at least 30% of them remaining active in an online community (e.g. on Discord) where they will share their experiences and inspire each other. Even though this goal is the least likely to be met, we will try to achieve it. Reflection and impact evaluation - Each day will end with a joint reflection session during which participants will review their experiences, lessons learned and reflect on their application in practice. At the end of the project there will be an overall evaluation which will provide a space to express impressions, feedback and share experiences, with the aim of encouraging participants to further self-reflection and long-term engagement. This project combines theoretical knowledge with practical activities while creating space for long-term impact. Outcomes will be continuously monitored and evaluated to ensure that all objectives are effectively met.
