Objectives

The issue of worsening mental and physical health seems to impact us globally more and more. Neither us, nor our peers treat themselves as they should and the results are already seen all around us. There is a way to reverse this trend - well-being activities. Youth involved in this application know the problem from personal experiences, there are people among us who are going through therapy because of diverse issues such as anxiety, depression and C-PTSD. Others struggle with physical issues such as autoimmunity diseases and neurological issues. Through our personal and collective experiences, many of them thanks to Erasmus+ projects, we realized that fortunately there are actions that we can take within ourselves to stop and reverse this trend through well-being activities, contact with nature and taking care of our bodies through nutrition. This brought us to the decision of creating the project on this topic to bring solutions to more young people. We are a group of young people who want to create a project on this topic and help with this issue. The starting team (VS from Ukraine, V & EP & E from Greece, D & T & L & V & E from Czech, A & M & K from Slovakia, I & R from Spain, T from Romania) met through previous Erasmus projects and shared the same ideas. Coordinated by Michal from Slovakia, they reached out and managed to get together a group of people willing to step up and support other youngsters to embrace the idea of well-being. The conclusion is, the ones who already practice different forms of self-care, are doing both physically and mentally better. Yet, 1/3 of the target group is not well physically, and 45 % mentally. As the specific problems they are dealing with, participants were naming a number of diverse issues, among the most predominant “loneliness, anxiety, lack of self-confidence, lack of friends, stress, social pressure”. We can see the majority of people understand the importance of well-being activities, yet they counter different obstacles to doing them regularly and adapting them to their lifestyle. It is not only a matter of knowledge, but also a matter of practice, and motivation. From this knowledge, we set our objectives: 1. Raise awareness about the importance of well-being activities and their link to improving both physical and mental health 2. Provide various well-being activities, offered by participants, which will be easily adapted into people's daily routine 3. Present plant-based food as a staple for well-being and how to prepare simply nutritious dishes 4. Create a sustainable environment during the whole project, where participants will adopt simple habits to support this approach. These objectives will lead to a better understanding of the whole idea of well-being not only as separated activities you could do, but a whole life approach. We are aware that our adolescence is a crucial period for developing a way of living that can support our mental and physical well-being.
