Objectives

The project seeks to strengthen pre-service teachers’ competencies and awareness in inclusive education, equipping them with the necessary strategies to address diverse classroom needs. By fostering equity and diversity in education, the initiative aims to bridge gaps in teacher training and enhance professional development in the field of youth work. Through interactive learning experiences, participants will develop a deeper understanding of inclusion and diversity, preparing them to create more accessible and equitable learning environments. A five-day mobility programme, hosted by Afeji, will serve as the core activity, featuring workshops on inclusive teaching strategies, interactive sessions with practitioners, and reflective exercises to enhance understanding of diversity. The project adopts non-formal learning methods such as role-playing, discussions, and hands-on activities to promote the practical application of inclusive teaching techniques. To complement the mobility experience, virtual components will include pre-mobility orientation sessions and post-mobility follow-ups, facilitating continuous engagement and reflection. Participants will receive preparatory training in intercultural communication and inclusion concepts, supported by linguistic assistance to enhance their participation. During the programme, on-site mentoring and risk prevention measures will be in place to provide a secure learning environment. Following the mobility phase, participants will implement inclusion projects within their internships, with institutional guidance to support their application of learned strategies. Outcomes will be shared through presentations and peer-learning sessions, fostering collaborative knowledge exchange. Learning outcomes will be documented through Youthpass, while daily reflections and post-mobility evaluations will help assess the competencies gained. The project places a strong emphasis on accessibility, prioritising participants from underrepresented groups and disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. Additionally, sustainable and eco-friendly practices will be integrated into all activities, with the use of environmentally responsible materials and the encouragement of local public transport. Afeji's expertise in inclusion and social equity will be instrumental in the project’s implementation, with ongoing communication and coordination between partners ensuring smooth management. Evaluation measures will include participant surveys, reflections, and post-mobility assessments of classroom inclusion strategies. To sustain the impact, project results will be integrated into teacher training curricula and made available through an online repository for educational institutions. Dissemination efforts will extend beyond participating organisations, with results shared through case studies, reports, and presentations at educational conferences. Social media campaigns and academic publications will further amplify the project’s reach, contributing to broader discussions on inclusion and diversity in education. The structured timetable includes an orientation session, workshops on inclusive teaching strategies, interactive discussions with practitioners, role-playing activities, and case studies, culminating in a final reflection and planning session for follow-up activities. By the project’s conclusion, participants will be equipped with enhanced competencies in inclusive education, ensuring that sustainable and effective inclusion strategies are embedded within future teacher training programmes.
