Objectives

Rapid population expansion and urbanization, coupled with industrialization and technological advancements, are intensifying human activity's pressure on the environment both domestically and globally. The intensive use of natural resources has become inevitable in this process due to the expansion of production and marketing activities, and the waste generated by the trend of constantly increasing consumption has reached a point where its quantity and harmful content pose a threat to human health and the environment. In these circumstances, environmental protection is rising in importance among the fundamental policy goals of nations worldwide, coinciding with the growing public awareness of environmental issues. Waste management plays a major role in environmental protection policies. Youth workers must be knowledgeable about topics like waste management, recycling, methods, alternative energy production methods, the environmental harm caused by fossil fuels, carbon footprint calculation, and water safety in order to stop the rapid consumption of natural resources and turn the waste produced from a threat to the environment and human health into an input for the economy. Only sixteen percent of the 2.1 billion tons of garbage produced annually worldwide, according to the index, is recycled. 46 percent of waste is disposed of in a way that makes it unrecyclable. In this regard, governments have proposed and enacted laws on a wide range of issues. Rapid advancements in science and technology, industrialization, urbanization, population growth, and environmental issues are also transforming society and having an impact on youth workers and families, which are the most significant social units. First-hand socialization and preparation for society are provided by family and youth workers. Given that every family in society has a consumption obligation, it is undeniable that choices made about the acquisition, use, and disposal of waste have an impact on pollution and environmental protection. Ensuring that people live in a safer and healthier environment is the goal of efforts made in environmental development, protection, and improvement. That person is the one who will make sure of this. Because people are the ones who both protect and enhance the environment and cause harm to it. In this situation, discussions on topics like waste management, recycling, techniques, the production of alternative energy, the harm that fossil fuels do to the environment, calculating carbon footprints, and water safety are necessary. In actuality, though, youth workers are the ones who converse with young people the most. In this way, youth workers can share this knowledge with young people through their interactions with them. Being aware of the environment is now regarded as one of the fundamental human rights, along with living in a healthy environment. Only with high-quality education is this feasible. When environmental workers first come into contact with young people, they will apply the training they have received to them. Environmental issues will surely worsen in the twenty-first century if awareness is not spread to all societal segments, beginning with the youth, and appropriate precautions are not taken. Through their training, youth workers will learn how to approach our environment with more awareness, respect, and consciousness in order to make the world a cleaner, greener, and more livable place. Getting training and information on topics like waste management, recycling techniques, alternative energy production techniques, the environmental harm caused by fossil fuels, carbon footprint calculations, and water safety is the first step in achieving this. In addition to improving the economy and welfare of the household, small actions like learning to cut back on wasteful energy use in living spaces, eschewing wasteful consumption, switching to renewable resources, cutting down on waste in the home, and making personal efforts to lower carbon emissions will help you participate in the fight for environmental justice. Gaining knowledge about how to create techniques that we can leave for future generations will help you and your loved ones create a better future and a cleaner world. The chance to acquire these techniques and apply them to young people will be given to youth workers who work with adolescents. By using the Erasmus+ program as a tool—which offers numerous benefits in terms of motivation and information access—it will be made sure that youth workers collaborate across Europe and acquire the essential level of expertise. Youth workers will use the knowledge and skills they acquire from these trainings and activities to approach their work with young people from a professional standpoint.
