Objectives

The project aimed to enhance the knowledge, awareness, and practical capacities of youth workers and young people working with disadvantaged children and young people regarding the concept of social orphanhood. It also sought to provide participants from Türkiye and Bosnia and Herzegovina with opportunities to exchange experiences, explore different perspectives on social orphanhood, and develop new methods that can be applied in their work. One of the main objectives of the project was to strengthen the understanding of social orphanhood among staff members and young volunteers working with orphans and socially orphaned children within both partner organisations. By improving their understanding of this concept, the project aimed to support participants in developing more conscious, inclusive, and effective approaches when working with disadvantaged individuals. Through workshops, simulations, empathy-based activities, group work, and drama sessions, participants were encouraged to increase their awareness and deepen their understanding of the subject. The project also aimed to improve participants' communication, empathy, teamwork, problem-solving, and intercultural learning skills. Through training sessions and seminars on psychological resilience, digital literacy, and emotional awareness, participants were supported in both their professional and personal development. In addition, participants gained knowledge about the Erasmus+ Programme and the Youthpass system, enabling youth workers to make more effective use of international mobility opportunities and to further develop their professional competences.Overall, the project aimed to raise awareness of social orphanhood, strengthen cooperation between young people, disadvantaged individuals from single-parent families, and youth workers, increase the visibility of their work, promote international cooperation among youth workers, and improve the quality of initiatives carried out for disadvantaged children and young people.
