Objectives

General Purpose: By introducing the "Maker Movement" to Youth Workers working in public, NGOs and Associations during the 18-month project period, to raise their awareness of the importance of "Makerspace" areas in libraries and youth centers, which we define as a third place. Specific Purpose: To raise the awareness of our youth workers and young people about the Maker Movement and to help them gain new skills by developing their solution-oriented approaches, creative thinking and entrepreneurial capacities towards today's problems faced by our youth in line with the priorities determined by the sustainable development goals. The Maker movement is a method based entirely on project or problem-based learning, interdisciplinary, innovative, sustainable, solution-oriented, collaborative practices. Our aim in the "Third Spaces Created in Cities: Makerspaces" project is to support youth workers by assuming a guiding role as a local government so that they can participate in this movement, reach its impact on young people, establish new connections beyond the nation, and discover innovative practices and maker spirit. Discovery and creative thinking are at the heart of the maker movement. In line with this idea, people participating in production generally see themselves as the Makers of the Maker Movement and exhibit a solution-oriented approach to all the problems and problems of today's world. This helps us raise more resilient and stronger generations. People participating in this movement usually have the opportunity to develop their projects, new inventions or innovations that emphasize the reuse of objects by gathering in areas called makerspaces. Unlike traditional teaching methods, it encourages learning by doing rather than by watching, in these areas where cultural ideas and thoughts are freely expressed, both in schools and libraries. The advancement of technology today has played a major role in the growth of the maker movement and its impact on education. Makerspace areas provide our young people with technology-based, applied learning environments. In a makerspace, you might find computing software like 3D printers and laser cutters, audiovisual equipment, or two open source software platforms like Arduino.
