With the project “Opening Horizons with CHANCE”, the Berlin-based educational organisation Chance – Education, Youth and Sport gGmbH creates new opportunities for young people aged 18 to 21 with fewer opportunities. The aim is to provide these young people with access to European travel and exchange formats, offering them the chance to experience Europe first-hand. The project goes beyond discovering new countries and cultures: it actively engages participants with key topics such as sustainability, ecological responsibility, European cooperation and intercultural learning. A distinctive feature of the project is its innovative intergenerational support concept: youth workers and experienced senior volunteers accompany the participants throughout all project phases, providing guidance, support and valuable orientation. At the same time, the young participants contribute fresh perspectives, creativity and new ideas. This interplay of experience and youth creates a unique learning environment built on trust, inspiration and mutual motivation. The project enables young people to broaden their personal horizons, strengthen their self-confidence and sense of self-efficacy, and develop the courage to explore new educational, civic and professional pathways. Closely linked to the Erasmus+ programme, “Opening Horizons with CHANCE” also opens doors to further international projects and long-term learning and development opportunities. The project is therefore an invitation to young people to experience Europe, to discover new opportunities, and to actively contribute to shaping a common future.
