This project aims to offer young people a deep educational experience that allows them to connect with the 20th-century European historical memory through a journey. However, this will not simply be a tour of historical sites; it is an opportunity for participants to reflect on the events that have shaped Europe’s history and understand their impact on contemporary society. By linking the past with the present, young people will develop a greater critical awareness of the fundamental values that remain relevant today, such as democracy, peace, and human rights. Through interactive activities, debates, and the analysis of historical events, the young participants will not only receive information but will also be actively involved in constructing their own knowledge. This pedagogical approach, based on non-formal education, allows participants to engage dynamically in their learning process, facilitating reflection and in-depth analysis. The aim is for the young people to not only understand history but also learn to appreciate the importance of democratic values and the need to keep them alive in their communities and societies. One of the project’s main goals is to promote the participation of young people from less privileged backgrounds. These young individuals, who often lack access to international learning experiences, will have the opportunity to undergo an intercultural learning process that would otherwise be inaccessible. The project will provide them with a platform to experience Europe’s cultural diversity, interact with young people from different backgrounds, and learn from perspectives outside of their own. This exchange will not only enrich their knowledge but will also strengthen their European identity, helping them feel part of a broader community. The opportunity to interact with young people from diverse backgrounds will foster empathy, respect, and intercultural understanding, which are essential competencies in an increasingly globalized world. Through living together and teamwork, participants will learn to value differences, share experiences, and broaden their worldview. Moreover, this process will contribute to improving their social and emotional skills, enabling them to be more active and engaged in society. The project will also focus on strengthening the autonomy of young people. Throughout the activities, participants will take on responsibilities and make decisions that will contribute to their personal growth. Planning and organizing activities, making logistical decisions, and participating in collaborative projects will enhance their problem-solving and management skills. Through this process, the young people will not only learn about history but also develop practical skills, such as time management, organization, and informed decision-making, which will allow them to face future challenges with greater confidence. In addition to autonomy, another essential component will be the ability to work in teams. During the project, the young participants will take part in group activities that will allow them to develop collaborative skills. Teamwork will be vital both in organizing activities and in reflecting and discussing the topics addressed. Participants will learn to communicate effectively, listen to and value others' ideas, and negotiate joint solutions. This process will help them understand the importance of cooperation and solidarity in achieving common goals, which are key skills in today’s interconnected world. Through working together, young people will strengthen their interpersonal relationships and their ability to adapt to diverse contexts. The impact of the project will not be limited to the direct participants. It is expected that the young people will become multipliers of what they have learned, bringing their knowledge about historical memory, democratic values, and peace to their local communities. Through talks, presentations, and community projects, participants will share their experiences and reflections, contributing to the creation of a culture of peace and understanding in their environments. By becoming ambassadors of these values, young people will help build a more inclusive and respectful society. This “multiplying impact” approach aims to ensure that the knowledge and values acquired during the project continue to be applied long after the project concludes. The dissemination of learning will not only benefit the direct participants but will also have a positive impact on their immediate communities, extending the effects of the project beyond its duration. Thus, the project is conceived as a tool to foster a culture of active participation, respect, and cooperation at the local and European levels.
