The project "Exploring Europe, Breaking Barriers" aims to promote inclusion and diversity within the Erasmus+ program, making it easier for young people with fewer opportunities to discover the cultural, historical, and gastronomic richness of Europe. Through a specially designed itinerary, we combine travel experiences with workshops and activities that encourage autonomy, intercultural coexistence, and respect for diversity. The Mediterranean Organization for Research and Development is committed to ensuring that this project is accessible to everyone, overcoming economic, social, and cultural barriers that may limit young people’s participation. Organization Commitments: Research and development of inclusive itineraries: A 12-day route will be designed, including the cities and countries of Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, and Belgium, with special attention to accessibility and the cultural and gastronomic quality of each destination. The route combines visits to emblematic places, workshops on history and local culture, and gastronomic experiences so participants can also get to know European diversity through taste. Education and awareness: Before the trip, preparatory workshops will be held on customs, basic languages, rules of coexistence, and European gastronomic culture. During the trip, cultural exchange will be encouraged with young people and local communities, visiting markets, restaurants, and cultural spaces. Management and support: The project will have a coordinating team that will organize all logistics: sustainable transport (mainly train), accessible accommodation, continuous accompaniment, and budget management. Safe and comfortable routes will be ensured, along with personalized support for participants with special needs. Detailed itinerary: First stage: Preparation in Burgos Participants will receive training about the countries to visit, including cultural, historical, and gastronomic aspects. Travel kits with maps, guides, and useful materials will be provided, and group dynamics will be conducted to promote group cohesion and prepare for coexistence. Second stage: Travel and exploration (12 days) • Burgos (Spain): Starting point, local cultural and gastronomic activities. • Strasbourg (France): Visit to the European Parliament, tour of the historic center, and tasting of Alsatian dishes. • Zürich (Switzerland): Walks by the lake, museums, and experience with Swiss gastronomy such as cheese and chocolate. • Munich (Germany): Cultural and gastronomic visits, including traditional markets. • Luxembourg City: Tour of the old town and sessions on European identity. • Brussels (Belgium): Visit to the European Union headquarters and tasting of chocolates and waffles. Third stage: Reflection and evaluation in Burgos Upon return, participants will share their experiences through presentations and creative activities. A collective evaluation will be conducted to measure the project’s impact on their personal and social development. Finally, certificates of participation will be awarded. Expected impact: This project seeks not only for young people to have a culturally and gastronomically enriching experience but also to acquire key skills for their autonomy, self-esteem improvement, and sense of European belonging. Additionally, it aims to strengthen the network of inclusive young travelers and promote a future Europe that is more united and respectful of diversity.
