Five young people from Dinan formed a group with two youth workers from Intercultura. They met during local events like the seniors’ meal, Erasmus days, citizen weekends, and Erasmus+ in the countryside. They also met young people who had traveled independently with DiscoverEU, which sparked their desire to travel, though they realize traveling alone is still a challenge. With Fabrice and François, they designed a mobility project: a train journey with missions to discover, learn, and experience travel. The project, Les Lumières de la ville, will take place over 18 days in July 2026, from Dinan to Faro, Portugal, using trains to reduce environmental impact. The project spans 12 months, including preparation, implementation, and sharing the experience with other young people from Dinan. The objectives are: -Organize and prepare the train journey to gain independence. -Explore new cities, cultures, and ways of life in Europe. -Meet other young people to share and learn from each other. -Showcase personal skills (photography, drawing, video, social media) during the journey. -Inspire other young people in Dinan to embrace mobility and eco-friendly travel. Intercultura youth workers aim to: -Build confidence and autonomy in young people. -Recognize and highlight their skills and knowledge. -Promote encounters and respect for diversity through collective activities. -Introduce Europe and encourage active citizenship by engaging with other cultures and languages. -Develop essential skills: communication, cooperation, time management, and problem-solving. -Support inclusion, especially for young people facing social, economic, or geographic barriers. During the 18 days, participants will complete missions in the cities: photographing letters, street signs (names of women or historical dates), and creating posters and an alphabet book. They will fill the 1000 Things in Life notebook to record lessons learned about themselves and others. Inspired by the book Paris Sans Paroles (https://www.parigramme.com/livre-paris-sans-paroles-241.htm) all materials will be shared on Dinan’s European virtual library: https://www.bved.fr/
